She is greatest high school cross country runner ever and it's not even close. No has ever been this dominant. She beat a fantastic runner in Hagen Reedy by 31 seconds.
Keep a close eye on this girl because we are witnessing something truly special here.
I'm a Mary Cain fan, but for 1500M. I think Sarah Baxter is better at XC and will beat Mary C. at NXN (I am assuming Sarah will run NXN)
Cain has to travel across three time zones and she has school next week. Cross is not her baby, nor is any distance over a mile. Cain is out of her element. No contest -- especially against Baxter.
The best XC runner was Stamps, but it may now be Baxter. One must also remember the girl who ran 16:48 at Van Cortland Park back in 1985.
I was there running today and Baxter hardly seemed like she was giving a full effort.
She was in 2nd place a mile in and didn't really break away from the 2nd place girl, who is no where near her class, until the second mile. Baxter didn't kick it in either, just sauntered across the line.
She broke the course record but hardly seemed like she really cared about smashing it. I'd expect she's saving something for the rest of the season.
Incredible run, all the more so for how easy she made it look.

Well, she did not win Footlocker last year or her freshman year -- implicitly those are losses because some of their comparison runners such as Hasay had their losses there. Or, are you asserting that it was a foregone conclusion that she would have won Footlocker both years?
Anyone know if NXN will be streamed live ?

Hasay DNF'd (on the way to a loss) at Stanford her freshman year.
You were not there. She was in the lead at the mile... And she was quite tired and did not have a kick.
Also, it was quite warm for an XC race in late November, I'd rather run in the rain.

Yes, I was there. She was already passed by other runners when she was pulled from the course. See this article:

This guys (or gal) is an idiot. Baxter was in the lead at the mile, by 3-4 seconds over "the 2nd place girl, who is no where near her class," who I might add is Hagen Reedy and an exceptional runner and the 2nd fastest on the day. This was an extremely unnecessary comment and one obviously made with less than admirable intentions as it did not need to be said. Congrats to Sarah Baxter for her incredible performance, and Ms. Hagen Reedy who obviously sacrificed a personal record to try an stay with Sarah. It was an incredibly gutsy run and I wish more girls ran like the two of them. You were obviously not watching the same race as the rest of us yesterday.
As for Hasay in 2005, she was well in the lead (in the homestretch) when her Mom pulled her off the course, allowing Saylor or St. Geme (can't remember which one) to eventually win.

Not really a high school meet. Also, the first race of her high school career and she went out so fast that she gapped everyone, if I recall correctly.
