We're sitting in here, and I'm one of the most talented middle distance runners in America, and we in here talking about Turkey Trots. And we talking about Turkey Trots. I know I'm supposed to make appearances for my sponsors. I know I'm supposed to run by example... I know that... And i'm not.. I'm not shoving it aside, you know, like it don't mean anything at all. I know it's slightly important, I do. I honestly do...

But we're talking about Turkey Trots man. What are we talking about? Turkey Trots? We're talking about Turkey Trots, man. (laughter from the media crowd) We're talking about Turkey Trots. When you come to the USA Championships, and you see me race, you see me race hard don't you? You've seen me give everything I've got, right? But we're talking about Turkey Trots right now. Reporter: But it's an issue that some idiot letsrunner continues to raise?

That course is probably 10 secs short of 3 miles anyway.

It's a turkey trot nitwits. Marsala ran 14:09 and he was a 3:37 guy and more of a distance guy.

It was a 3 mile race not 5k..It is slow for for a guy that has run sub 335 for 1500 meters..

For one, he's hardly race sharp at this time of the year and he might even be quite out of shape. For another, he was probably showing some class and being gracious about the guy who won.

It's always the same handful of posters (and their numerous alts) that start posts like this. They feel that any race is a direct indication of the future of any given runner. If it's not a PR... look out.

John Popper should know that Steve Scott WAS that guy in a T shirt. Check out the photos from the late 70s and early 80s. Many, many T-Shirts were worn in road races.
