The 8K WR on the road is technically 21:51 by Deriba Merga in 2011, en route to a Half Marathon. There was an official clock at 8K so that's why this is the World Record, even though obviously Leonard Patrick Komon came through 8K faster during his 10K Road WR but there was no clock to make it official.
None of this has to do with the fact that the Alan Webb 8K probably never happened since there's no evidence for it, so mods please delete this thread
It shows he's in 13:55-14:05 5k shape in December at the time of year he would be expected to be in the least shape. If he did run this race.
No one bitches when other elites "only" run 7:55 for a 3k indoors in January but when someone runs 23:10 for 8k in November people flip shit.
I didn't read the whole thread but I don't know how on EARTH we got to comparing Alan Webb's injury-recovery offseason times with literally Kenenisa Bekele's peak WR shape times, or why anyone thought they could make a good point out of that, or anything
