I don't get up to run in the morning. That's crazy.
All you can usually do is log some easy distance, because of the dark and freezing cold and low metabolism. For that low-value workout you trade one or two hours of high-value recovery time, i.e. sleep.
If you can realistically go to sleep at 9pm to get up at 4am, why not sleep in till 6 a.m.? A little extra growth hormone goes a long way.
