Sure, a Lance Armstrong may have been "on his bike six hours a day," but what allowed him to train so particularly hard, and so effectively, for those "six hours," recover, and get back out there the next day -- day in and day out -- were the pharmacological aids.

You hear this argument a lot, but one of the hardest things about training is dragging your ass out of bed to workout the next day when you are wrecked and feel absolutely awful. If I was good and recovered every day I would sure as hell train a lot "harder".
Paul Tergat claimed he was the best because he worked really hard and did 6 hard workouts a week. I wonder how he managed those six hard workouts!?
