He's guessing that from the prelims they'll take top 6 from each heat and next 6 fastest times. Then in the semis of 2, 12 man fields they will take top 5 each heat and next 2 fastest times.

heat 2 will be the fastest

I'll explain in English:

Prelims = top 6 each heat then next 6 by time (24 advance)

Semi = top 5 each heat then next 2 by time (12 advance)

Honestly, I don't know what this means.

Times are not faster or slower-they are shorter or longer in duration- it's a semantics thing.

The first 6 across the line from each race in round one and the six fastest runners not to advance by place in round one move to round two(a semifinal) in each semi the first 5 in each semi advance to a 12 person final with the two fastest times not to advance by place filling slot 11 and 12.

Obverse hub and reverse hub are English language expressions also.

Anyone know if Jenny Simpson's house is in danger? I know she trains around the air force academy sometimes and they evacuated the academy the other day.

Imagine Andrews lining up as the Olympian he should have been? Vig rolled the dice, but I think Andrews could have placed 2nd in the 800m and still been competitive in the 1500m.

Fernandez needs to push this heat for the A standard, then worry about tactics in later races. Fernandez should qualify for the finals if everything goes according to plan.

Heat 3

Manzano and Wheating were on the 2011 WC team, Ulrey was on the 2009 team and Brown has the fastest time this year.

Then add Merber and McNamara.

That's 6 pretty fast guys and top 6 auto qualify for the semi.
