Jeremy Wariner won't ever make the U.S. team at this rate.

His performances started to suck when he stopped taking whatever Michael Johnson was taking.

Whatever the underlying reason, the result is plain.

Speaking of 400 guys in the 200, Merritt has Wariner beat in that department this year, too--and handily, I might add.

Galen Rupp has a better chance of breaking 11.50 (FAT, from blocks) in the 100 than Wariner does of making the team in the 200.

He should play out the trials and finish up the 400m. He won't make it in the top 3. He should then leave his coach and call up Johnny MF Gray for 800m training advice. After that - he might become the best 800m runner in history.

Wariner still has an excellent shot at making the team, and that means making the final and having a shot at a medal. Only a handful of Americans are capable of running 44 at the trials, but few of them will handle the pressure of doing it when it matters. Wariner has proven he can step up when it matters. Merritt may be too strong for him right now, but Berry won't handle the pressure and fatigue coming off NCAA's and Angelo Taylor is the only other real threat to beat Wariner at the Trials, and he may not run the 400 and 400 Hurdles. On the world scene we have Merritt and James and then it is wide open. I think it might be a little too soon for the 19 year old Dominican Santos to vie for a medal, who better than Wariner to step up and get at least Bronze and we are talking about a meet that is two months away, he may still have a lot to say about who wins Gold in London. 44 low-mid gets on the podium in London and I think he still has that in him.

Don't count Jeremy out just yet! He has already ran 44.96 (breaking 45s much earlier than previous years) back in April. The only reason he may be running slower right now is because he may be training through races to get the needed strength he has been missing, therefore he is racing flat. My bet is that he shuts everyone up here in three weeks at the trials, as long as he comes in fresh/healthy. Then everyone can jump on the band wagon again. But seriously guys stop saying he needs to change events, the 400 suits his body style perfectly and the 800 is physiologically WAY different, it would take a couple years of training to develop him for that event. Lets have faith that Clyde Hart's training system is timed perfectly to see some fast times when it counts.

What's wrong with him is that he's old. MJ's longevity was an aberration. 28 is way, way over the hill in this event.

Wariner is losing his strength. He needs to adopt more of a Lydiard approach and start putting in some serious mileage.

You're the guy who claimed to exactly predict the time Gatlin would run at a meet few weeks ago and, when asked to reproduce this prediction, posted ssome earlier threads in which you made predictions about the time that he might run sometime in 2012.

Can we see you're claim that Wariner was done from 2011?

Clyde will have him ready for the trials. He will make the team. He has had a couple of injuries. Biggest set back is a loss of confidence , he's one race from getting that back.

Flagpole and Sprintgeezer in a dead heat for the most out of touch with reality. "For now" is not a prediction about 11 months later. Wariner was actually done when he got rid of Hart. He decided running was a business, not a passion. There's no getting that back. He's been on an overall slide since he made that decision.
