The long term effects of doping are something that needs to be considered when the bans are set. When he was doping he genetically enhanced his muscles, that stuff doesn't just go away when you stop juicing. The benefits are still there as he was able to develop his muscles better and faster than those who don't dope so he still has a better opportunity to succeed because, even tho he may not be juicing, he still was able to develop his muscles better.
He should be banned forever, because the effects still aid him to this day.
Sounds like you know more about the long term effects of doping than the cadre of WADA PHd scienctist...please publish your analysis. To the best of my knowldege, the effects of any chemical in the body loses it's efect over time. If it was as simple as you say, every young sprinter would dope, get the benefits and then stop before they turn pro. (Just keeping it real!) Also, is it possible that Gatlin is running no faster than he would have if he had never doped; from memory, Gatlin ran 10 flat when he was only 20 years old. Is it possible that he running what he is truely capable of?
