How long do you think it takes for that to happen? As someone with a lot of friends from overseas, I know it takes a long time. I am not entirely sure that he was a US citizen at the time of the trials...so if that was the case it makes it a lot more digestible. A lot of people have dual citizenship and end up running on other nations teams eventhough they are based in the US or other nations. Although I am not really a fan of the decision, the olympics and world championships is a hard thing to pass up. So I am not going to judge.

WRONG! In 2004/05 "dual-citizenship" was not possible for a Kenyan. He was American.
I think his less than stellar performance was more due to the fact that he went out in a 56 than anything else.

Actually, it was! Since Lagat never told anyone he became an American citizen his Kenyan citizenship was not revoked. He was an American and Kenyan citizen; dual citizenship.

While Penn Relays DMR might be a big deal for some of you reading this, Lagat is doing the best preparation he can to win the Olympic 5,000m.
He missed out last time because he wasn't strong enough to run , 4:55 for the last 2km, and throw down a 53sec last lap... this is what he is working on. There is no rhyme or reason for him to be trying to be a better kicker than Manzano right now.
