The thing about it is that $300k is obviously a non-issue to the University, it's saving face that matters to the Administration. Like many have said, people can be found to help support/save programs, and we have found them. Unfortunately, the Administration at this University would rather lose the human capital of the most prolific scholar/athlete team at the school AND $300k, with possibilities of much more in years to come through further donations, than admit they did something wrong.
It's great to see that the Millersville program has such a passionate alumni base.
Title IX is always used as a scapegoat when a university decides to cut a program.
To get back to the main topic, this stinks.
It also makes me think the administration are liars. I would hardly make me want to support them if I was an alum or go there if I was a student.
I presume you said this just to get a rise out of someone, but for the record, Princeton has a wrestling team. Granted, not a very good one.

No, I really mean it. The higher education system in this country is a scam - college after college charging a fortune for worthless degress that get you nowhere, apart from massively in debt.
Uh, you realize that Millersville is part of the Pennsylvania state school system and has been around since 1855, right ? Tuition + fees according to their own website are only ~5000 per year.

Graduates of colleges and universities have much, much lower unemployment rates than non graduates. It doesn't matter that much where you go, and remember that it is so competitive to get jobs (granted that many places don't want to get the best candidates but only the least publishing and least ambitious must be the "good teachers") that any school in the country will get incredibly sharp profs, most from top rated grad schools. That's why it really doesn't matter that much whether you went to Yale or Oberlin. And Millersville too will get some publishing faculty.
My guess is the school could not make the male/female numbers work even without budget issues. They try to say it is budget related but it's really a Title IX issue. As they all are when it comes to cutting sports.
Why is it that no female sports ever get cut? Hmmm....makes one wonder.
I hope to have a daughter one day that doesn't want to compete in anything so she can get a scholarship at a school that needs Title IX numbers.

This is one of the stupidest things I've ever read on Letsrun. You're really using unemployment rate to compare schools? Unemployment doesn't take into account what job you're doing or how much you're getting paid. If two guys graduate with architecture degrees and one gets a high paying job with one of the best firms in the country while the other goes and waits tables at a diner, both are employed. You're going to say that because unemployment rates are the same for Harvard and Millersville, that "it doesn't really matter where you go"? C'mon man. I don't have anything against lower tier schools, but your argument is just stupid.

It would be better to flood the inboxes of the President (francine.mcnairy@millersville.edu) and VP of Student Affairs (aminta.breaux@millersville.edu), who played the largest parts in this decision. Also, contacting the leader of the State System John Cavanaugh (jcavanaugh@passhe.edu), the PASSHE Chancellor would be great as well.
How many people alumni, students, athletes, fellow PSAC runners, runners alike have gotten really drunk and sent these people heinous emails? Maybe you didn't have to be drunk to do it, but thats when I always do things I probably shouldn't do.
I know seven people with degrees from Ivy schools and not one of them has a job or a salary that they could not have gotten if their degree was from Millersville.
Seton Hall killed their track team? Seriously? I missed that one. I hope that was joke.
