Classic death in the last 200.
did he really lose the whole team title for them??
Well they lost by 7 points I believe and they lost out on 8 points from that relay....so yes....but they also had a kid in the 5K pull out, so they left some points on the table in a few events.
Yikes - part of the Adams Guy's problem was the 20+ glances he takes over the first 800m of his leg!!! He was even looking over his left shoulder when he was running right on the rail - and then ironically in the last 50m he drifts out and gets blown by on the inside (not that he had anything left at that point anyway).
He was so worried about his competition - what a waste of energy. Looks like a talented kid (nice stride and rhythm) but gotta keep your head about you in championship racing.
yeah he is a freshman from Aussie a believe, ran like 13:50 something in the 5k before he came over....but the Augie kid is just as good evident by the race

Do they teach English down in D2?
for all the time u could see him on the video thread, he looked back 38 times during the mile.
Well the way I see it not a single Augustana guy in that race ran any other races in the meet. Could they not qualify as individuals or something?Adams put a sophomore who had just ran a mile prelim in the 1200. Southern Con put a guy who had just run the 800m prelim in the 1200 and mines put Maclain who had just ran the mile prelim in. Then Adams had a true freshman running the 400 and both Adams and Southern Con had freshmen running the 800 who had both finished their 800m prelims just over an our ago. Mines also had a guy who had just ran a prelim running their 8 leg. Southern Con the put Perry in the mile- a guy who had just ran a mile prelim hours earlier and mines also ran Drummond who had also ran a hard prelim. Adams placed a freshman on their mile leg possibly trying to save Graham for the mile/8 double. The adams freshman was then placed in the unfortunate position of leading the whole race perhaps showing his inexperience. It looked to me like the occasion got the better of him and he kicked too soon. As for him throwing the stick, i saw it ij person. He threw it underarm into the infield nowhere near anybody. Maclain did a simular thing when mines won in 09. I think if it was any other team it woud not have been a dq, but the officials, like many douches on these boards seem to hate Adams. It is teams like Adams ,Sou Con,Mines,Lincoln, ST Augs and Western that push the standard of D2 up and all that seems to happen is they get berated for it. If you really want to see mediocre runners thrashing around in D2 then you really are a bunch of babies. Well done to Augustana, but if anybody thinks that they could have lived with a fresh adams, sou con or mines "A" team they are living in a dream. Stop just looking for bad things to say about these teams and focus on improving.
Mental Meltdown
omg what is this video streaming from, a dial-up based server being powered by hamsters in wheels? it has taken me almost 5 minutes to load 1 minute of the race, and i have a very solid wifi connection.
It's one thing to say that if they had won with a time much slower than what the other teams had run during the year. However, Augustana actually ran the fastest DMR time in D2 on the season in that race. Personally, I think it's kind of cool to see a team of guys who couldn't get into individual events work together to win a (baby) national title. You're basically saying the reason they won is because they're so bad, they got to be fresh. You're the one who sounds like a crybaby.

Huh? Coach Martin is a great coach.
Couldn't have said it better myself. I think we can all agree that being a tool is a requirement when it comes to track officials. They seem to think that they need to make a call here or there to prove they are there and have power. Congratulations Mr. Official, you just cost a bunch of young kids one of the greatest experiences in life.
Coach Martin is indeed an outstanding coach.
Having said that, there is no way you can put this one on the official. Everyone and their brother knows you can't toss the stick in a championship meet without a consequence.
Yes they do teach English. Also, they teach us to stay off* the letsrun boards if possible because it is nothing but a bunch of washed up D1 guys trying to compete for the biggest ego.
C'mon guys, he was a freshman who threw everything at them and folded because he had no fear, tossed the baton into the infield after the race and probably made someone duck. Having raced at the highest levels, I saw each of his teammates doing a mental lapse at a critical part of each of their legs so they can't complain. In this politically correct bunch of whoosies, they'd toss anyone who wasn't Mary Poppins.

Mclain did not throw the baton when Mines won in 09. Mines screwed up by leading off Mclain the last 2 years, possibly costing them two titles. And your running prelims argument is lame, the prelims are not hard for the best guys. Augie won fair and square
10 Points if you scone the official on the head!!
Coach Martin is not a good coach. PERIOD.
