How much would you pay for a 1 mile race?

Awesome great ideas guys. The race is in late May and most schools and colleges are out of session by then so they don't have team obligations. But I know that since they are athletes year round they still have restrictions.

Does the race benefit a charity? Then I can see $15 or $20.

If it doesn't benefit a charity, then I don't understand the high cost. I'd aim to bring that down to $5 or $10.

Most people showing up for a mile race aren't in it for the big accomplishment of running a mile. Give finishers ribbons to kids maybe, as they are the only ones who would find running a mile an accomplishment. The adults are more concerned with accurate timing of their mile. I wouldn't include a shirt unless you have sponsors who gave you good money and deserve more visibility or if you have a sponsor donate swag directly.
