STOP SAYING RUPP HAS NO RAW SPEED

I don't what flavor of Coach d cool aid you have been drinking, but Coach d is the epitome of a wannabe coming onto this board and trying to appear to have some real knowledge. I have found most of his posts to be ill-informed, opinionated and, just plain ridiculously stupid. A good example was his nutty post that Centro did not have the talent to be a factor at the NC's. When the young man showed what many of us already knew and came home with a medal, Coach d was nowhere to be found. Those who can, do (Centro), those who can't, make up crap (Coach d).

i know it's only one race & he doesn't even get Farah, but this is the race that gives me hope that Rupp can win a big one (or at least grab a medal) at a major championship. no other american right now could have closed like this.

3'33 / 26'45 ->51.7 , 1'48.7 , 7'26.3 , 12'48.7

3'33 / 26'40 ->51.8 , 1'48.9 , 7'25.8 , 12'47.2

with an experienced eye, i'm gravitating towards last 2 lines

wait wait wait. you have to break 50.0 in the 400m to be able to go sub 4? I think that is the requisite speed to go sub 3:50, but I think you can get under 4 with a substantially slower 400 pr.

Seb Coe's average 100 in his 800 PR was almost 12.5. How could he not break 12?

he couda gone very close to 26'40 in his record

it had some uneven pace, so you can knock some secs off there

then, consider how unambitious the pace was for the race - something like 26'50 pre-planned - rupp had no problem following it & only coudn't shift gears at the end & get out of his "metronome"

i really wish they had aimed for 26'40 beforehand, as i have little doubt rupp wouda "metronomed" it from gun-to-tape
