She is ready , given the race effort at Boston , she showed us something racing to the finish that I do not think another US woman can do at the moment over that distance. Hansons have her dialed in , she trusts them and they know how to get her ready.
Is anyone going down to the trials? Last year at the half championships it was quiet. I know Houston is going to have a great course, but will they bring out the crowds to make it exciting?
It's supposed to rain on the 14th in Houston. So no crowds.
"All they talk about..."? Who's "they?" I personally filmed that workout (with some help from Mike Morgan) while I running in it for my own personal training VLOG on youtube. I didn't mean to intentionally ignore the women's team and had no idea Flotrack would feature that workout video. Robert Scribner, Paul Heffron, Mike Morgan and I were just joking around...

I really hope they are taking into consideration her, Melissa, and Dot ran their PRs on aided courses and will likely not run as fast or faster on an unaided course. This also applies to anyone else who ran their PRs at LA, Boston, San Diego, Grandma's. No one should be trying to hit the pace they hit at these races at the Trials, or they'll end up sorely disappointed.

desi also "dropped a fast one" in chicago with a 2.24 without aid(in temps probably similar to what houston will be) . she is definatley fatser than that now so i have no doubts she will be on the team. she will probably win by 45+ seconds

That's amazing if she's really in 2:21 shape. If so, the trials are an easy win for her. Go out in 1:14, come back in 1:12-13 for an "easy" win around 2:27.

Yeah...this sounds like some bull.
I've got to admit, it must be nice running for Hansons. I'd hate to be sponsored by Competitor and have to race/appear in all these stupid RnR events. I've been wondering how Jerry will handle that with Kara. The Hansons really have it dialed in how to develop a symbiotic relationship with most of their athletes. Athletes really buy into the system, and the coaches really work wonders with "second tier" talent. (Perhaps Molly Pritz being the main exception)
Don't mean to offend with the second tier talent remark, but it seams they openly admit to seeking out passionate athletes who are not concerned about near-sighted performances but rather continual and steady improvement.
It's also no wonder Desi is a LetsRun darling with her Martin guitar, wiskey collection, non-assuming personality/image and her unwillingness to be an attention hoarder. The one drawback is that's not going to increase the popularity of the sport in the general public. It's unfortunate these attributes aren't admired while athletes like the Bolts and Gouchers of the world make the money and fill the stadiums.
Sage has posted two recent videos--the "simulator" and the 3x3, and in both Desi looked great. And if you watch the interview from MichiganLive, and just listen to her, she is wired in and ready to go.

I run a run specialty shop and Brooks hands down makes the best shoes for "real runners" regardless of if they sponsor a marathon series, or not. List me a company that you think makes shoes for "real runners" and I will find you a $30-$50 shoe they've made for Pay Less, or sell at Sports Authority. Wow for the sake of your customers and your business I hope when you say run, you mean you are the manager or just an employee on the floor because you know very little about what you are talking about. Yes most brands make price points shoes however there is not a single "name brand" athletic brand that is sold at run specialty that is sold at payless and that includes the run specialty brand that is owned by payless. Also just because Brooks does not make a shoe under 80 dollars does not mean that they do not sell at places like Sports Authority, Finish Line etc. Finally to say Brooks has never made a shoe for "looking good at the gym" Let me introduce you to the Pure Project.
Brooks makes fantastic shoes, but from the sound of it you should just close your shop and open up a Brooks Outlet. See how that works out for you, even if they are your number 1 brand, there is no way they are the majority of the shoes sold at the store you "run" so lets just get things straight here.
Brooks just like every other company want to have a large share of the hobby jogger /casual runner / penguin market. They are the largest market and they have the most disposable income. "Real" runners can't sustain a company.
How many of the 40,000 runners at the NYC marathon qualify as real runners? 25% (which would be under 3:50)? If I was a running shoe company I would rather sell mostly to the 30,000 non-"real" runners then to the 10,000 "real" runners.
