Sounds legit. Tulsa would only have one win (Indiana) and Cal Poly would have no wins, I think, so both would require the push.

What about the women?

I can't believe Ohio State gets in this way like they always do. But they always manage to run their only good race at the Regionals which is what counts. Robert Gary knows what he's doing.

I don't believe Indiana's team at Pre-Nats counts as an "A" team. The Hoosiers' regional team was:

Hubers

Mayhew

Poore

Dannemiller

Weatherford

Bizuneh

Ricker

Of these, only Mayhew, Bizuneh, and Ricker competed at Pre-Nats. I'm not sure if this will have a huge impact on the calculations, I'm checking it now.

****This needs some explanation. If you override the ASU/San Fran push, San Fran will get in on their own and ASU would get left out. By rule the NCAA Selection process must look at the next TWO positions to determine who gets in either by push or on their own merit, THUS they HAVE to take the ASU push with these selections. A minor (yet significant)nuance of the rules that some won't be happy with. But there you have it.

So the Cornell women basically don't get a sniff? Well, they had a great season anyway!

if providence had finished a spot higher, cornell would have gone, but i understand less about the calc than you guys do.

i feel bad for both teams. providence for obviously having really bad luck on the day/weekend and cornell for doing it the way it *should* be done, laying low all year and then landing big punches at regionals. no system is perfect though.

If they had LV, they easily would have been 5th in the region behind Wash State but ahead of Cal. Would that get them in?

If they had him, they might have been 4th ahead of Wash State which definitely apparently would have gotten them in.

Ya, Mick's stacked Wisco meet was the place to be. I used to think it was clever of Arkansas to run their Chili Pepper 10k to prepare runners for the big difference between that longer challenge contrasted to an 8k. BUT why hold it on Pre Nats and Wisco's stellar field weekend? Arkansas bossed SEC, yet never chased any ranked teams for at-large points.

If Oregon had beaten Cal they go. I think it's reasonable to think that he could've been 66th here. He was their 5th at Wisc and asking for 66th would've only put him 3 places ahead of their 5th on the day. LV screwed over Oregon royally imo.

I came up with the same teams, but in a slightly different order---you missed Michigan's win over Florida.

This is the order I had

#19 Princeton with 10 wins (removing win over Indiana's "B" team at Pre-Nats)

#20 Tulsa is pushed by Minnesota

#21 Minnesota with 6 wins (defeated NAU and Providence at UW Adidas)

#22 Northern Arizona with 6 wins (defeated Providence at UW Adidas)

#23 Michigan with 5 wins (Providence blocked by Columbia; Michigan defeated Columbia at UW Adidas)

#24 Columbia with 5 wins

#25 Providence with 7 wins

And then it's the same after that.

Actually, Princeton only had 10 pts because Stanford's team at Notre Dame was a "B" team. Sorry for the mix up.

Scratch that. Beating good teams at the big Invite almost equally as important. The huge national invite these days has superceded the conference meet in importance.

I don't understand? In recent memory, the only "points" Ohio State gets is from their conference meet and then having a great Regional meet. Placing 17th at Wiisconsin was one of the best middle of season big invite performances they've ever had.

Two years ago, they were 2nd at Big Tens and 3rd at Regionals.
