Kara Goucher Joins Schumacher's Group

You obviously have no contact with Amy or Deena. If you did, you would be able to ask them instead of commenting and looking foolish. I know from first hand experience.

Bump. This is it in a nutshell.I wish them all well, but this doesn't look like it will work. The two never got along, all common knowledge. In the past couple years they've never done even a long run with each other. But look for some overly positive comments from the both of them trying to convince us and themselves that this is really great.Claws are coming out, get ready for a cat fight.Jerry will get scratched since he now is in the middle...

What's "already unstable" about the training dynamic at Schumacher's group? Teg/Solinsky?

This is a good decision for the right reasons, and relatively non disruptive less than a year from the Olympics. Is she running the marathon trials? With Schumacher she has two great women to run with, so that should work through the Olympics, and they don't need to thing that they are costing each other a spot. What third runner would displace Koll, if healthy and in that training group?

I think Salazar doesn't care one way or the other, but is probably glad to be rid of her.

Dear Kara,

I am a huge fan and I will pray for a great 2012 but I hate your decision. Both you and Adam made a huge improvement after taking a risk back in 2004. You did not make a safe decision to move from Colorado to Oregon. You took a huge risk. This risk proved that running was your top priority and it paid off.

Your current decision to stay in Portland was a safe decision. I am sure that it was what made the most amount of sense financially. However, financial decisions are almost always are not what is best for your running.

As I said, I am still a fan. I just wished you had moved to Michigan or Mammoth or somewhere with a better grasp of the marathon. I hope that I am wrong and you nail it in 2012.

Ok , Kara is looking for the 5 % extra that will pull her over the top , can Schu bring it or will she just stay that 5% behind off the podium ?

The marathon team is not a slam dunk , the playing field has a few more players.

10k trials field has gotten older , with a couple of new runners that could displace Schu's chosen few.
