I am a heel striker. Pretty pronounced, actually. I was All America, so it didn't really seem to bother me that much.
I am sure I could have run much faster had I spent countless hours working on POSE and other garbage, but I used those hours to train instead. That is why I have an All American certificate and you pusses have a closet full of vibram 5 finger shoes.

I don't have to. He set the world record, so evidence is on his side. I think you need to show why there is something wrong with his running style, not vice-versa. Running isn't a beauty contest.
of course he is a midfoot striker. Heel striking is inefficient at those speeds.

He's wearing the Adios, right? That's a pretty built up heel. You basically have to heel strike in that shoe. He'd be midfoot in a lower heel and probably forefoot when barefoot. It's just an adjustment due to the higher heel of the more cushioned shoe. Rest assured that he's transferring motion through his foot very quickly at impact, so his heel might touch, but there's very little braking action. In that sense he's more of a midfoot striker, but visually it looks like a lot is happening at the heel when most of the work is happening midfoot.

Yes, clearly this one picture negates mounds of other evidence. Because if one runner did something one time, clearly it must be okay for everyone to do.
Come on, not again. NO ONE LANDS ON THEIR MIDFOOT, unless they are deformed! The closest you can get is landing equally on the forefoot (metatarsals) and the rear foot (calcaneus). Stop saying midfoot. Stop obsessing about things that mean nothing at all. You'll have more time to bash Rupp for wearing masks etc.

As a dedicated follower of the the Church of the Midfoot, it violates my belief system to say that these people are heel-striking. Therefore, I must believe that they are actually running backwards, and instead of "toe-ing off" they are "heeling off."

go to 2:57 of this video. Makau is not heel striking - looks like midfoot or whole foot.

How built up the heal is has no barring on whether you heel strike or not. I can run on my forefoot in workboots with a large heal. No shoe can make you heel strike. That is bogus.

Words mean things. No one with any knowledge of real-world foot biomechanics would ever discuss midfoot striking. So why would anyone obsessing over meaningless distinctions between heel strike and forefoot strike adopt a non-sensical vocabulary to discuss it even further? To be taken seriously in an argument, one should become informed on the actual anatomy, biomechanics and semantics. Just an opinion from "almost a doctor". By the way, it doesn't matter anyway. Fast is fast, slow is slow, and whoever reaches the line first still wins, on his heels or not.
Midfoot= cuboid, 3 cuneiforms, bases of the metatarsals which never touch the ground barring severe deformity. Your "midfoot" is equal weightbearing on the calcaneus and the metatarsal heads.

Your post is the dumbest response that I've ever seen.
So, the rationalization is now to make heel striking some bizarre running form where the calceneus strikes the ground about where the achilles tendon inserts into the heel. A strike on the bottom of the heel is actually an optical illusion triggered by an exessive heel lift. Makau's clear high dorsiflexion before his foot strike is also an Adidas Adios illusion, and not the same poor inefficient form that the forefoot/midfoot zealots have derrided over and over again.
Face it, forefoot is done. Vibrams are nothing more than overpriced beach shoes. In fact, there will probably be a new line of Patrick Makau inspired shoes with extra heel lift to promote WR breaking heal striking form.
and since when did anyone say that you hit forefoot in a vibram? you don't - with a flat shoe it is nearly impossible - you hit the balls of the mets at the same time as the heel .
