Semenya is a woman only if we decide that each person decides what he or she is. There are men, women, pre-op trannies, post-op trannies, hermaphrodites, androgenites, high testosterone women and low testosterone men. In society, you can pretty much be whatever you define yourself to be. Hell, Hemingway's son went through most of his adult life sometimes as Gregory, a man, and sometimes as Gloria, a woman. He did not change one for the other -- he used both.
But in sports we simply can't let people decide what gender they want to be. Semenya clearly has more testosterone than she should have to be running against women. It is not her fault, and the IAAF supposedly "required" her to undergo hormone treatments to bring her estrogen up and her testosterone down. Whether she did the treatments or not was apparently left up to her. If she did them they appear to have had little effect.
Semenya and any other "woman" with her level of testosterone and muscle mass should not be in a women's race.

Outside of professional body building, watching a woman flex her huge guns after a win just doesn't seem normal. Frankly, addressing CS as a female doesn't seem right. "She" has no discernible female features. It's a travesty "she" is allowed to compete.
I don't exactly understand measures of "testosterone", but if there is a standardized measure, couldn't the IAAF proclaim a bright line number and assign adult humans to one of 2 categories?
High-T and Low-T
High-T women compete with the high-T men
Low-T men compete with the low-T women
Or maybe 3 categories--low, medium, and high!
And totally gender-unspecific.
And if you had 3 categories, you could adjust it so that the upper one was open-ended, and you wouldn't have to test for male hormone/roid supplementation anymore.
And, athletes could move up or down, depending on where they wanted to compete.
I think it would work--you wouldn't all of a sudden have many guys competing with the girls, as that wouldn't be cool--and plus, given the same T, even if they did they would probably only be competitive.
I don't know if this would even out distance races, but for power/sprints/throws/jumps it seems to make sense.

So I get there are testosterone limits. What's the leagal sperm count for a "female" athlete?
It would be unfair to Caster if he/she were not allowed to compete.
It is unfair to the ENTIRE REST OF THE FIELD of women 800 runners if she is allowed to compete.
It is not her/his fault that this is the situation.... but Caster should be running against the men.

Good idea! The Olympic 800meter high testosterone champion. That has a nice ring to it.
Maybe they should split up runners by what percentage of their muscle fibers are fast twitch fibers. That way, somebody like Bolt who has a unnaturally large number of fast twitch fibers wont have an unfair advantage over his competition.
The IAAF conducted thorough investigations last year regarding Semenya, and it was determined that she did have internal testes, and her testosterone levels were exponentially higher than that of the average woman. However, the IAAF continues to allow her to compete.
I would be shocked if Semenya didn't undergo some sort of treatment, or isn't practicing some sort of hormone therapy so that her testosterone levels are neutralized. I didn't hear all of you clueless f*cks complaining about her and calling her a man while she was running 2:06s and losing races this past year.
If any of you posters were female 800m competitors, how would you feel about running against him? Its stomach turning !!! I know I wouldn't like it. They need to re open that case and get rid of this travesty of our sport!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
