If you've only heard of one of the runners then you don't really pay attention to highschool running.
A few of those guys have been ranked in the top 10 all year.

I would actually like to second that. And say he doesn't perform to those expectations, he has an insane amount of potential heading to Georgetown. Runs very minimal mileage (I believe less than 40 miles a week), has a great deal of speed (closing in on 1:50 probably at about 1:52 pr right now). And can clearly still hang with the fastest distance runners his age right now (Vertiz and Nowak are two of the best in Texas right now, although maybe a down year).
Now add the fact that he's got the genes.
There hasn't been enough pr surrounding this kid, which I personally like, but you can quote me now, if his heart is in it, he will tear up the college mid-d scene.
Nowak is the Texas state champion. He won the 1600 in the spring with a 4:08, too.
Roper is an incredible athlete for the girls' side. Texas state 4A champion and she will be even better in college. Spent her first two seasons doubling with volleyball.

not to be picky, but Bile has run 1:50 before, so I would say he's got some of the best speed at footlocker. That being said, i'd like to agree with you and the previous poster in that Bile will give Futsum a run for 2nd place, especially on that course in San Diego. of course being from Virginia i have some bias, but hey, that doesn't mean im not right.
Yea, Nowaks very good, as is Vertiz. I don't mean to make Texas sound like it has no talent this year. They may well have the winning NXN team in Carroll this year. I guess they're are just no outlying individuals regarding cross like in the past years (Lutz, Reed, Lowe). And as a result less pr surrounding them both.
If those three have good days, that could be three in the top ten, which would be pretty big for the south.
Any thoughts on who the favorite is (south, north, midwest, west)?

Elliot Clemente won NXN Southeast. The FL South times were significantly faster.
3.00-05 miles. It is at McAlpine...the course was rerouted for Club Nationals last year to fit in the full distance but returned to its standard set up for the meet.
Despite that, compared to earlier years the times were still very fast.

Actually the course is a perfect 3.1 miles Max Mayo and myself measure it every year in preparation for the meet. However this course is a very fast course because it is nearly 100% flat. Also, this year it ran abnormally fast due to perfect weather/course conditions.
Are you willing to add your name to that claim? Might add to validity to it
I think Cali Roper will be a great college runner. She seems to be improving quite a bit and still has a ton of potential. Does anyone know where she is going to college?? Hope these great Texas folks stay in state.
This course was measured 3.1 the day before the race. The course has always been a 5k and always been fast. Everyone knows that there is one hill in the entire race as you're going up for the first mile. Other than that, it's a race track. It's fast and can accomodate tons of runners, so that's why its used for so many championship races. (Not just HS, but club, college, and elite races). This year it was not wet at all (usually mud is the only hindrance, besides wind) and provided near perfect conditions. A handful of my runners set PRs on Saturday and I'm glad we went down to NC and look forward to heading back a little stronger next year.

Where are the seniors qualifiers (boys & girls) scheduled to attend college?
South could be a lot stronger, but many TX individuals are on really good teams and run at NXN South Regional, and also most individuals prefer to run at NXN South Regional because it is closer compared to FLSouth.
Individual examples include: Hevin Hoyos, Cale Wallace, Ryan Teel
Team oriented examples include: Madi McLellan, Joe Sansone
etc...
