Sorry, but who said I am suprised by this? Nice try though. I'm just seeking some advice as we get closer. Other posters are suggesting I skip it, but obviously that won't happen because I WAS expecting these conditions. I never considered this. I was hoping to get luck and end up with cooler weather, but I wasn't expecting it.
Also, I don't think I said my goal was low 2:40s. I think I made it clear that I'm in low 2:40s shape (on a good day), but that I was shooting for a BQ only. I never expected to run low 2:40s in this race. People are so quick to criticize they don't even bother reading carefully.
So...I have this marathon coming up and it's going to be hot. Since I've trained for 4 months and got that part figure out, do people have advice about how to best approach race day based on the forecast? This is not that complicated."
Um, what are you still wondering about? You've already got your answers:
-Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate during the week before. -Practice drinking a lot of fluids during your upcoming runs to see how much you can handle during your run.
-see how easy/hard 2:50 pace feels through 10-13 miles. If it's manageable, then keep it up for as long as you can. If it feels like you're beginning to labor, then back off and you should still be able to break 3 fairly easily. Assuming you really are in low 2:40s shape.
