She does that every race doesn't she?
She should realise that she can't hold on anymore like she could a year or so ago when she was on the juice.

And here's our favorite troll trollism who can't get over his/her jealousy that most American runners are way better than British ones...
NBC should pay her a performance bonus, because it made the broadcast. Out faster than the men, but the 40s last 200m was tough to watch (Uceny meanwhile closed spectacularly in about 28s).
Had WT nipped Rowbury, would she have been DQ'd?

I agree all 'trollism' has ever done in over five years of posting anonymously is accuse every good American or African runner who has a great race of being on drugs without a shred of proof. He would get sued for libel in this country. Best to stay in Europe jealous little man!
Front running is one thing but you need to run more even splits. Frist lap was too fast 1 or 2 seconds slower and she would have qualified. Also if you are below par not a good idea
I agree. I get SO SICK of seeing the men, year after year in championship races, run what amounts to a quick warm-up three laps and then race a 400 meter relay (a 400m with a running start):
- This type of race does not determine who is the best 1500m runner. It determines who is the fastest 400m runner. Centro clearly has great 400m speed and can probably go low 47, maybe high 46 in a flat out 400. Even in his top gear, he hasn't seemed to be straining which means he can even go a bit faster. That ability, however, does not mean he can run a world class 1500. Back in the late 90s, I used to tire of seeing Fermin Cacho of Spain essentially do the same thing......use blazing sprint speed to win jog-and-kick 1500s, although he did eventually surprise everyone by running a 3:28 PR in his prime.
- My hat and total admiration is off to Christin Wuerth-Thomas. She gave an outstanding post race interview as well....a very mature and sharp individual. I hope she is able to go to Europe and improve on her sub-4:00 PR.
She should join the WWE. That cross body block has no business on the track. If you go out too fast you can't cheat at the finish line.
I admire her race.
I also admire the men who know to use their kick to their advantage.
What stinks is that you have no incentive to simply set a fast pace. If you don't gap the field, then they're just drafting you. She had to gap them for that strategy to work at all. It didn't work, though, so she isn't going to worlds.
Maybe she's running the wrong event. She might be able to go up in distance fairly well if she's going to try to win a 1500 off strength.
She made a lot of excuses in her post-race interview.
I love to watch someone who has the guts to try. I was rooting for her the whole way, though I though Uceny was going to win.
Had Christen taken it out a little slower, making that move she made after 500, I think she either wins the race or at worst is on the team.
Regardless, I thought she had shown she was in better condition this year and could have outkicked, at least in a long kick (400 to 600) than Rowbury or Pierce.
Good luck next year (the Olympic year) when it really counts Christen.
1) Going out in 62 really isn't THAT crazy. 4:00 flat pace is 64. So she went out hard, built a gap, then slow on the second lap to pass 800 in a reasonable time.
2) If you're going to lead, I say f*ck everyone and try to gap them like this so they can't draft off you. If you have to fight the wind in front make them fight the wind in second.
I have no problem with her tactics, they almost worked.
Almost worked? The way she ran that race made the outcome all too predictable. Yes, she showed great guts and determination by setting a fast past, but everyone let her continue on her suicide pace, knowing that they would reel her in. Great gutsy run by her, just not the way one gets on a WC team. Hopefully she learned something from this and will run differently next year for the Olympic Trials qualifying.
I enjoyed the womens 1500 more than the mens. Not because I was hoping the frontrunner would hang on to the lead/3rd place. But because I was hoping she would get outkicked by everyone.
I was screaming at my tv.. "CATCH HER! PLEASE CATCH HERRR!"
I don't like frontrunning at all.
Christin's run reminded me of another runner who ran with guts at Hayward field. She ran like "Pre" She ran with heart, don't care if she made the team or not, I would pay to watch her run. I agree the men will not win medals at
Worlds running like they did. AS usual big hype followed by big letdown.
She didn't run like Pre. Pre might've gotten outkicked sometimes, but he didn't start races at a pace he couldn't sustain.

Ha, that was the same thing I was shouting as I was watching Shannon Rowbury pass her at the end.

Agreed - I lost respect for her after seeing the post race interview. Say it like it is - I went for it, I couldn't hold it. I lost. Period.
One other note - When asked if she would change anything, her reply was "no". How stupid can you be?!! Hind site is 20/20 - Today this tactic didn't work. If you have the opportunity to do it again, you would use the same tactic again, knowing it didn't work? C'mon swallow your pride and say, "yes, of course, I would change the tactic so I can be aboard that plan to worlds!

And like Pre, she got kicked down for the last "medal" position, following an idiotic race strategy.
There were way too many kickers in the race for Christin, and she might not have had a chance to qualify no matter what she did. But she would have had a far better chance copying winners (El G and Kenny B) with a long finish (go from 600m instead of 1500m)instead of copying the USA's most notorious loser.
Instead, she became Uceny's rabbit. Kicker bait.
Agree. Gutsy race.

If you're not cheating, you're not trying. That was a veteran move, making them bounce outside. She was clearly tightened up, so she did what was necessary to try to hold her position and I applaud the effort, unfortunately her tactics didn't work.

Totally agree. She missed Worlds but certainly ran with heart. I'd pay to see her race anyday.
