I'd rather have a knowledgeable parent doing the coaching if the HS coach isn't up to the job. Sounds like the HS coach is smart enough not to interfere. The athlete's aspirations should always take precedence over coaching egos.

Um, Chelsey S. was coached by her Mom wasn't she? She had a pretty good peformance at this meet as a soph if I remember correctly. How is she doing these days?

Agreed. There are way too many ego driven coaches, who are not looking out for the best interests of the young people on their teams. A great example of this is the many coaches who shove their kids into relays, and get them too worn out to run their individual events.
You are absolutely right. Ms. Sveinsson's injury woes provide irrefutable proof that having a parent coach his/her son/daughter is a bad idea. One shoe fits all.

OK, Rawson is kinda tall but he TOWERED over that girl. How tall is she?
Good observation. Here's a much better interview with Wesley ... at the beginning, another runner crawls on the track right into the view of the interview. Bizarre.

As for her height, in 2009 she was listed as 4' 11" and 78 lbs. Doesn't look much different than that now.
She has deffinantely added some muscle since then though.
