I think we all understand that this is a summer track meet and most of us are accepting of a high pollen count. We are not accepting of a rundown football stadium where you can't see most of the races because of the football field sightlines. Face it, Sacramento was the poorest excuse for a major t&f stadium in the history of the sport.
Places like Des Moines, Sacramento, Eugene, Fayetteville, Knoxville, Baton Rogue, etc. don't have the enough medals nor enough certified officials, runners, coaches, sprinters, throwers, etc. to sustain our sport on a national scale. The medals and athletes for our sport are centered in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Austin. Championships can be held in June in Austin if started at 5PM.
No, it is still 95 degrees at 5 PM in Austin right now. Is heat stroke your objective?

We can't let NCAA T&F continue to die a slow death in a dull, drab, nothing place like Eugene.
Champs should be held next year at places such as Duke, LSU, Boise State, Arizona, Mt Sac, Sac CC, Missouri, Long Beach St (new T&F stadium), Penn, Ohio St.
These are where NCAA athletes are from.
The NCAA should not let T&F die from it's own corruption.
The NCAA should eliminate the bid process and produce the championships itself, rotating the site each year to different parts of the U.S.
The NCAA should choose the best venue for the athletes, and not for the NCAA big shots.
I.E. the NCAA should make the Official Meet hotel at the Motel 6 if the that's all they can afford.
The meet is for the student-athletes, not the NCAA Indianapolis big wigs.
No way is a constant high pollen count acceptable unless it;s incidental, I.E. every 12 years or so. The weather, environment is something we all live with, yes. The city should change each year with no-repeat for 12 years.

I guess they will be a)fresh for the 1500 tomorrow, or b)completely dead for the 1500 tomorrow.
The schedule will be delayed. It will roll over into another morning. It depends on the school if the kid can run and make the flight back home. Most schools have a travel budget and the coach can dip into it and change tickets for the very high price the airlines charge.
At USATFs in Indy a few years back the lightning delayed races til later Sunday and many runners/throwers didn't compete since they paid their own way and could not afford the extra $1000 ticket change fee.
Sucks for A&M women. Their main title competitors got through the first two heats. Now Beard has to run twice in one day.
Has the meet ever been in the northeast? I figure UPenn or Princeton's tracks are decent enough and could hold enough spectators to host such a meet. Or even a neutral site like Icahn stadium would be even better, but they would have to work around the diamond league meet there.

The poster who (using many monikers) believes in moving the meet around the country and limiting it to one site no often than every 12 years is a moron. NCAA has to make money on these meets to pay the bills. The only way they can make money is by giving it to a high bidder who can provide adequate facilities and local administration. California sites have proven they are incapable of all these chores. Fayetteville and Des Moines have steppred up in recent years, as has LSU and Austin in the past. If NCAA wants to survive financially, it will probably have to go to a somewhat permanent site, that has a reasonable climate, paying fans and adequate facilities--that would probably be Eugene. EOT.

Princeton's stadium only seats 2,500.

Those places all made money. Sac made money. That was a great NCAA Nats. I was there. NCAA Nats always have good attendance. Let's resume the process of having nats around the nation. That's what helped make the USA the #1 track and field team in the world. At Berlin 2009, Cali won 10 of 30 medals. 20 or 30 were won by TX, IL, MO, NI, NC, GA, etc. So we need the entire country, the whole USA, not just Cali. We are the USA.
Des Moines. Track City ?! More like Track Shitty. Crap weather and why in the hell would ANYONE want to go to f*cking Iowa ?! There's nothing remotely cool or exciting about Iowa.
Better pick some place out west, yet one that isn't an oven.
