That's why I said "at least most of the way." The eagles could have dropped them off in Gondor or something. Plus they showed up lickety-split right after Sauron was defeated, so they had to have been on the way when he was still looking westward, so it seems like he must have seen them coming anyway.
I'm revealing my nerdiness here, but if you read the books (boring, I know), the king of the eagles tells Gandalf that his people are not steeds to be used for the benefit of men and wizards. I think the eagle king was being a dick, but that at least offers a bit of an explanation...

He also passes the wooden sign that says "Mount Bighorn - Elevation 2500 feet". Not only is Mount Bighorn completely fictitious, the lowest elevation in Yellowstone is 5,314 feet. Movie Ruined!
In X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the movie starts in "1840 -- the Northwest Territories of Canada." Strange, considering Canada was formed in 1867, and the Northwest Territories in 1870.

In Shooter the guy shoots right handed, then later in the movie shoots left handed, they dont allow left handed snipers in the army/marines/armed forces at all.

In the book, it states that the eagles do not wish to partake in assisting men or any race for any reason. In the movie, they obviously messed that up or intentionally changed it. They make fun of this in the "How it should have ended" series on YouTube.
It's not in a movie, but consider the TGIF paradox.
Steve Urkel, the character from Family Matters, appears on both Step by Step and Full House. Later, John Stamos, not his character from Full House, "Uncle Jesse," appears on Step by Step. During his cameo, Stamos mentions his role on Full House.
Urkel's presence suggests that in that continuity, the characters and situations from all three shows are real. However, Stamos's presence on Step by Step clearly establishes that in the Step by Step continuity, Full House is fictional!

It was known as the North-Western Territory before 1870, so it would not be strange to call is the Northwest Territories of Canada before Canada was officially formed.
It's not any different than identifying North Carolina as such before Statehood.
The robin feathering her nest in Mary Poppins was an American Robin not an English Robin. The rest of the movie failed to make sense after that.
In the Dark Knight, the Joker plants a bomb in a guys stomach who he has get arrested so that he can blow up the prison and let the Joker escape in the off chance that Commissioner Gordon is still alive and the guy who was pretending to be Batman isn't actually Batman, which leads to the Joker getting caught. Additionally, people are already in place to kidnap Harvey Dent and Rachel Dawes, just in case, and the Joker knows where they will be taken if all that happens.

I've read the books many times, but that's a separate issue from a thread about movies.

Where did you come up with this? That's not true at all...In fact, many shoots utilize weapon systems in their weak hand. Reason being you don't have to take your finger off the trigger to work the action.
