This isn't a major championship but I recall Don Paige of Villanova winning the 1500 then coming back 20 minutes later to win the 800 at the 1979 NCAA championships/.
rashid ramzi 800/1500. who gives a f*** if he doped

Has to be El Caballo (Juantorena) - unboycotted Olympics, competitive era, 400/800 - who even tries that? - and set a WR in the 800 in the Olympics. Inconceivable today.
Yes, no one else has even ATTEMPTED that double. Plus WORLD RECORD in the 800. Don't think anyone else has set a world record doubling. The 1976 Olympics WAS boycotted by African nations -- therefore no Mike Boit in the 800.
800 and up the El G double in '04. Lagat's double at the World Championships. Very rare for 1500/5k doubles.
5k/10k doubles take your pick, they're fairly common.
Nurmi in 1924 Olympics
5,000m OR, twenty to forty minutes later(I have heard both), he set the 1,500m OR.
Day before that he ran a 1,500 Q heat, and the day before that, a 5,000m Q heat.
Also 2 days later in +100 degree heat, he destroyed the field in Cross Country. 23 DNFed because of heat, 15 finished.

Yes they have. Kratochvilova won 400m in a WR(47.99)and 800m (1:54.68)at 1983 World Champs. She set the 800m WR the week before the champs started. She also won a silver in 4 x 400m relay.
Has to be Zatopeck, in particular his triple of 5k/10k/marathon debut in which no one came close. That's what domination looks like.

KB's 5/10 double?
It's worthy of consideration. I think the tendency is for people to take KB for granted. Just think about the modern era of track and how competetive the 5 and 10 are.
Zidane's 2 headers in 1998 World Cup final, had to wait 8 years for his hat-trick.

The 10000 competitive? Not anymore.
Still, great double and I think that at his peak, he would have been able to do a 5000/Marathon (without heats) or 10000/Marathon double. But we'll never know. I doubt he'll come back.

Bolt? Michael Johnson? Jesse Owens?
Not saying it's THE most impressive, but Geb's indoor 1500/3k double i find especially impressive, considering the fact that the 1500/3k were definitely not close to his strongest distances.
Gotta go with El G in 2004 beating Lagat and Bekele.
Lagat and Bekele were both ranked #1 in the world in these events that year plus Lagat held the second fastest ever 1500 and Bekele held the 5000 WR.
Mary Decker's 1500/3000m at 1st World Champs beating the doped up Eastern Europeans (hopefully not at there own game at that time).
