I had to read the first article couple times to figure out who the real LEGAL wife was...

First off, it sounds like the women in his life (I guess the two mentioned in the report) are claiming that they should get the wealth--this part is disturbing and sounds suspicious on their part.

Also, they claim that the legal wife was a police officer? and if so, was she involved in the case? or knew how to hide evidence? Red flag to me.

As for the door being locked, besides what one poster mentioned about a lock on the outside, maybe they put a chair against it to prevent from opening? But, why would you want to lock the bedroom door?

I have to admit when I first read about Sammy's death, first thought came "I wondered if he was murdered". After reading a book about the Kenyan athletes and about their money problems due to success, that is what made me think this...again is this all speculation.

Cameras may provide evidence of what transpired. The guard says Wanjiru was drunk when he arrived home...

A 120 pound man should be able to handle a +200 pound woman in a fight, (weakling Andy Kaufman never losing in Intergender Wrestling for example), much less a woman his size or smaller, even drunk.

No, the deadbolt was separate from the door lock. If the door had the deadbolt set from the inside you couldn't open the door, even if you had a key.

Think of this as a security issue. Someone breaks into your house. You are a very sound sleeper. You are asleep. The door is locked. The person picks the door lock. They try to open the door but can't because there is a separate deadbolt set. The person breaking in has to kick the door down.

This is an added level of security when you are home and someone is trying to get in. You buy time for the police to arrive to handle the situation.

You seem to think you know everything. How would you know what the setup was at my parents home?

When I was in Kenya a few years ago, I discovered that polygamy is something of an accepted custom. While it is a dying custom, it is a custom nonetheless. I know judgement is easy when I view this situation through my own cultural lens, but it becomes more difficult when viewed through the East African lens. All of this is just absolutely unbelievable. I am still shaking my head about it.

On a much lighter note, his wife Triza looks like she might be a bear to live with IMO.

What you're not explaining is how someone from outside the room could lock someone inside the room.

From the story, it is hard to tell whether the woman locked the bedroom door as well as teh metallic gate at teh staircase or just the gate.

That said, there are locks that have keys such that you can lock it from the inside or the outside with a key. Such doors usually don't have a deadbolt.

The doorlocks that I see here in America are new to me. I first saw them when I got here. I used to lock myself out of my bedroom or bathroom because they only open from the inside. I have never seen such locks in Kenya.

If you don't know the trick you can locked inside a car. Electronic locks can be a pain if they lose power.

Man Gets Locked Inside a Corvette ZR1, Calls 911 for Help

Lee Adams of Central Florida loves his sports cars. In addition to a 2009 Corvette ZR1, Adams owns a Ferrari, Mosler and an Ariel Atom, so you can tell he is a real car guy. Unfortunately, Adams recently endured the harrowing and life-changing experience of being locked in the ZR1 when his battery died. In a panic, he calls 911 for help.

Adams retold his experience of being locked in Chevy’s supercar on the FerrariChat forums:

I closed the door and the door locked and would not open. The car would not start. I was trapped!

I called 911 and the police came quickly thankfully. Once the officer assured himself that ilt was a car problem and not a idiot driver problem. He nor I could not figure out what to do.

He called the chevy dealership. They recommended I get out of the seat and crawl to the back of the ZR1 and pull the emergency tag. It is not a pretty sight to see a fat, 65 yr old man crawling to the back of the car. Well I did and the trunk opened.

That was this morning and the ZR1 is sold, gone out of my life. Took it to the dealer that helped me and sold it cold and flat. It is still in my garage I am not going near it. They will have to come to my home and get it out of my garage.

Thank god for the police and the chevy dealer. Boo for GM.

What a stupid system to put onto a car. Just think , if my garage door was closed not open and I did not have a cell phone and my wife just left for Vermont It could have been alot worse.

No more cars for me with automatic door lock systems. FYI the officer said his captain had the same problem with his Corvette.

The electronic door locks are one of the features on the Corvette that seem to flummox many, especially when the battery runs down. Guys like Adams that have multiple cars run into this issue as if they are rarely driven, a drained battery can be the result. Still, Chevy built in some safe guards to the system by providing a manual release on each of the doors (located on the bottom of the door by the seats) as well as the trunk. And let’s not forget that blue OnStar button on the rear-view mirror. (Hasn’t he seen or heard the commercials of freaked out mom’s who lock their kids in the car?)

There are several losers in this story, the biggest being Lee Adams who should have his Man Card pulled for calling 911. The unnamed Chevy dealer also loses points for not knowing about the manual door releases and sending “a fat, 65 yr old man” squirming to the rear to manually open the rear hatch.

I'm guessing the mother stands to gain handsomely if the wife were convicted of murder. She'd sure lose her inheritance and it's conceivable the mother would gain custody of her grandchild(ren) and all his $$$.

Not saying she couldn't be right, but it's not like she has less of a motive to lie than the wife.

I can confirm that this guy's account of our phone conversation is accurate. He called and told me of Sammy's death but said he wished to remain anonymous. He also told me that the news from Kenya was the death involved an incident with Sammy's wife and another woman. This was 2 hours before anything was published.

Yes, I am incapable of figuring it on my own, and there have been many other posters in several threads that also don't understand. When I think of securing myself in my home, I think of locking people OUT. Locking someone IN a bedroom seems more of an imprisonment issue than a security issue.

The only use I've heard of being able to lock someone inside a room in a home was to confine a violent child. Again, I don't understand why Wanjiru's bedroom would be equipped so that his wife could lock him IN from the outside.

Yes, I understand how it could be done, just take the traditional bedroom door lock and reverse it. But it makes no sense to me why Wanjiru's bedroom would be set up that way. And if it wasn't set up that way, how could she lock him in the bedroom?

The lock is opened and closed with that key, either from the inside or the outside. It doesn't matter.

All of the inside and outside doors in my house can be locked with the same key from the inside and the outside. Don't know why -- the house just came that way. If I wanted, I could lock all my family in their respective bedrooms, no problem. I couldn't keep them there though, because of the windows.

There is no way in hell he jumped head first from that goddamn balcony or even fell in a "drunken state", it's all bullshit!!!!! Blood "inside" the bedroom - How in the hell did that get there??? I don't care if you think it's a cultural thing or not, but the police guy describing what happened in the video clip, seems totally unreliable! The amount of blackmail, thieving and extortion that goes on there is unbelievable!!! Sammy was surrounded by a lot of desperate evil people who wanted his money.

Notice how other Top Kenyan guys aren't coming forward with criticism - They're scared to death!!! It is well known that Wanjiru was trying to leave Kenya and go back to Japan and if he did, they were going to cut him from the Kenyan marathon team!!! If people just let this sit and carry on with their lives, it will only be a matter of time before this happens to someone else!

The IOC should put whatever pressure and resources into action right now to get to the bottom of this!!!! before he's buried! Forensic analysis can determine if the head injury was caused by the impact of the fall or by a blunt instrument from behind. Do they even have "experts" there who haven't been paid off to keep quiet, that can actually make a decisive call on this???

I am not shooting my mouth off here or jumping wildly to conclusions. Everyone of you knows in your heart, that Sammy didn't do this to himself.

This is double-paned sound-proof glass! There is no way that neighbor could've heard Sammy Wanjiru scream on the way down with that door shut! The scream she heard came from inside the apartment before he was thrown over the balcony and the murderer closed the door before he left. Yes! Yes! Oh, yeah! Can ya feel that, buddy? Huh!? Huh!?
