The linked article from Dave Monti (which I thought was a brojo article, my bad) says it's "totally bogus" initially, but then they give the full quote from Flynn including "at this stage." Why not say that from the beginning? It's misleading to say that's it's "totally bogus" if Flynn's quote includes more than that. This goes back to what Yanqui says about how the story may prove to be accurate. "Totally bogus" doesn't imply accuracy. "At this stage it's totally bogus" leave it open.

The "totally bogus" headline was in reference to the RRW headline which was emailed to subscribers and the media as "Alan Webb's Agent Ray Flynn Calls Webb Story "Totally Bogus"" which conveys I think a slightly different meaning than the actual quote of, "And at this stage is totally bogus"

We were actually trying to do what you said and correct the headline a bit but we didn't make it clear that the headline was a RRW headline instead of a LetsRun.com headline and we should do that as we don't always use the RRW titles word for word. So perhaps we should in the title of the page saw RRW: Alan Webb's Agent Ray Flynn Calls Webb Story "Totally Bogus"

As for the "It's Official: Alan Webb to Virginia" on the message boards, I realized right after I wrote it that that was incorrect and corrected it in the next post. On the homepage where most people saw the news we never said it was official but did say Nearman was a reliable source.

Why did Julia Webb bring this up and not someone more relevant? Wouldn't you think there would be a separation between home and work? I dunno, i thought that was super bizarre that the dude's wife is the one to say "hold the horses" and not, say, a manager or the like. But that's just me. Maybe I am old fashion and just want woman out of business decisions.

Young and immature would be my guess. He needs some well designed structure. Maybe Gags could help. I would not go to Virginia, he needs real professional coaching help, not a college coach. I am surprised Flynn doesn't have more influence.

I suppose they shouldn't be left out of all business decisions. If I wanted to know how to model the interior of my office, i think in theory, one's wife could be helpful. Or perhaps, if one needed to know where the best sales at the local mall were, one's wife could be helpful. But then again, they would only know were they would spend my money at, and not where I needed to spend my money at... if that makes any sense.

We've got some more quotes from her as well on the coaching search and will be writing something up shortly, but wanted to give everyone the heads up, especially since in the other message board thread, I inaccurately used the headline "It's Official" before qualifying in my post it had not been confirmed by Webb but that Nearman was a respected reporter within the industry.

Update: I have contacted Nearman and he said, "I stand by my story and I stand by my sources."
