Not a joke at all. Last year after his injuries and everything he ran his second fastest 1500 since 2007. This year looked to be rounding into a good year for him after his last 1500 where he beat out Willis. I'm hopeful the move will be good for him, but surprised after he seemed to make a lot of progress with a lot of season to go in his March 3rd 1500.

He made a promo video for the Bowerman 5K and said he was running it.
There were several prediction threads and then he didn't run it. When questioned later, he said he never intended to run it.
Or, rather, Nike made an overly-obviously sarcastic promo video with Webb and Tegenkamp 'committing' to run, and every idiot on here, plus their grandma and mother (with whom they still live) bought into it, then got angry at those high-and-mighties at Nike and that head-case Webb for trolling them.
The only thing that is certainly true is that Webb would have challenged the 3000 world record.
Mr. Webb was running very well in that stretch from 2005-2007. Then, when he got injured he gave it some time. Maybe not enough but he still gave it some. When there was no improvement, he left. I feel he was satisfied with his first year with Salazar. Then, at the New Balance Games, he was once again disappointed. When he ran those races in New Zealand this past Early spring, he was still disappointed. He should have given it more time with Salazar, especially because he is healthy. However, now that he has left, he certainly has work to do. Not only physically, but mentally. He needs to re-commit if he plans to make Worlds/The Olympics.
Webb's got a head problem not a coaching problem. His biggest mistake was to quit college running, put too much pressure on him too early. I think he's been getting bad advice since the day he quit college running. At this point he's lost his confidence and cannot make a committment with a coach long enough to get it going again. Getting a new coach and expecting it to make a huge change in less than 24 months is unrealistic. Good luck Alan.
