Be realistic here. Pete ran a great time--for a master--and ran with some of the better college athletes. That's all he did. What you see is typical hyperbole from drug-apologist Ken Stone.
Cameron Levins of Southern Utah ran 13:49 and Jon Rankin (who wasn't quite good enough to compete in the 1500 internationally) ran 14:08.
THOSE are the people who CRUSHED. Pete was not with them.
EXACTLY. Don't get me wrong, 14.45 for a guy pushing 50 is very impressive and WAY faster than I can run; but he didn't 'crush' - he got beat by several people in the race. Wrong terminology.

You and Coach are making yourselves look small. Not small as in "of limited size; of comparatively restricted dimensions; not big; little: a small box," but as in "characterized by or indicative of littleness of mind or character; mean-spirited; petty: a small, miserly man."
to realistically expect another masters wr, Pete is gonna need a power level OVER 9000

Gotta agree with you. I've been reading running message boards since 1997 and I still get disgusted at the vitriol people spew at each other. You'd think I would be used to it by now. I mean, we all share the same passion. Why do some people feel the need to constantly bash other runners? Go get laid or something. Shit.
Awesome time from Pete. Does anybody know what Brian Erb is doing? He recently turn 40 said he would be one of the best master's runners in the country. I haven't heard anything from him.
It's sarcasm!
what he did is amazing. college men frequently run faster and pros run much faster, but no 49 year old has ever run that time. You lose the heart capacity and the ability to put in the speedwork at that age; there is incredible attrition. And he is a few months away from a 50/54 world age group record.
Did anyone notice that Ryan Alexander, just 14 years old, ran an incredible 33:39 at the Oxy Distance Carnival 10K. There were a couple of clowns laughing at him before the race, but no one laughing at the end. Nice job kid!

Why don't you get off your high horse and learn to read?
If you read my post, you'll see that I am praising Pete's fine, fine run but taking issues with the incorrect use of the word crush by the OP. Just get over yourself you sanctimonious fool.
I don't remember to associate many comments on these boards with specific usernames, but wow, coach d, you'll be hard to forget from now on. And for the wrong reasons.

Oh terminology, I actually feel sorry for you. You created a post just to point out the wrong use of a word and I'm the one on the high horse?
Along with small, hypocrite is a good word for you. In the sentence, "Terminology is a small hypocrite."

Well I quit. Seriously, I used to post in the 50+ thread. But with times like this. I quit. There is no point. Herein I'll go jog my broken down 50 yr old 17+min 5Ks in silence (at least on Letsrun).
Nevertheless, congrats to Pete! That's an amazing run.
Christian Cushing-Murray/Pete Magill are my heroes.

Allyson felix, David Neville, Lashinda Demus did not come from Santa Clarita, fool.
You have to think that the 3K record is in range as well 8:41 More like 8:33-34, I'm guessing in his current shape.

Since we're bringing up the rest of the meet, did anyone notice Jacques Sallberg win the steeple after taking his shoes off two laps into the race? File it under man bites dog: a barefoot mzungu beating spike-wearing Kenyans in a steeple.
Boom!!!! Jacques Sallberg is a beast.
