Could any of you win the Women's NCAA DI meet solo?

You would need to be borderline elite for a mid-distance runner to win 200-400 then go "tempo" at just over 4 min mile pace for the 8, drop a 4:30 an few hrs later and then a 9:10. This is all on top of running the 2 prelims, 2 finals, 4 prelims, 8 prelims, mile prelims, DMR, 5k the night before. Basically you'd be dropping like the sickest workout of all time. I think unless you are elite, most runners would hit some resistance after about 6 races and all of a sudden a 4:30 feels a lot harder than it actually is.

I think most decathletes would have trouble outright winning a few events (3k, 5k) but they could score high is almost everything and probably win 60m-mile and most field events.

Today? Hell no. I wouldn't score 1 point. In my prime, considering limited breaks between each event these are the points I think I could have mustered.

200 - 4 all out

400 - 10 all out

800 - 10 easy sit and kick

mile - 10 easy sit and kick

3,000 - 10 easy sit and kick

5,000 - 10 easy sit and kick

LJ - 8 all out

DMR - 0. No way after all those races could I do 4k at a 13:33 pace.

So that's a best guess in my prime of 62 points. But it'd be a lot of races!

Heck, in as a HS guy my pr's show that I probably could have scored in the high 40's by sitting and kicking most races.

Why would female runners be offended by this thread? They already know that female world champions are typically about as fast as recruitable high school boys. Men are faster and stronger than women... big surprise... maybe that's why they compete in separate divisions!If women started another thread on something they are much better at than us by default (ie. empathy, recognizing color shades, attracting the opposite sex, etc.) I don't think we'd get too offended.

40 pts (800, mile, 3000, 5000) even with the heats is a walk in the park for any 1:55/4:15 type miler. The only question is how many sprint points in the 200/400 you can score and if you could pull off any of the field events.

I could win all the distance events. But I don't think I'd score OVER 9000 points.

What kind of damage would chris solinsky do. He's pretty strong or a runner (looks like it anyway). Think about it. He would easily win 4, 8, mile, 3k, 5k, DMR, and maybe some field events....

No your high school team could not have taken those events. You forget that they first would have to qualify then they would have prelims for some of the races and how well do they race with equal competition. Throw a bunch of 4 min milers in someone has to win. You are dreaming if you think your high school team could have taken as in won those events. Dream on.

I'm laughing at all the people predicting 1-8 points in the sprints.

The difference between 1st and 8th in the 60m was less than a fifth of a second, and running the slowest qualifying time (7.23) again in the final would have gotten you 6th, if you could have sped up to 7.08 or faster you would have won. Predicting that you would come in any place other than first or last tells me you didn't look at the results, or you know WAAAAY to much about your 60m time.

Almost the exact same thing in the 200m, 23.17 was the slowest qualifier, runner that again in the final gets you 6th, with 22.85 winning. 23.17 is not exactly a world away from 22.85. Looking at the results and saying "Yup, I could run faster than 23.03, but 23.00 is just too much to ask from me... I guess I'd score 4 points" is utterly ridiculous.

Easily. We would have gone 1-2 in 800 (1:56 and 1:58),mile(4:09/4:14/4:24 ), 3000(9:07/9:23/931/9:35 2 mile guys), 5000 (In addition to those 3200m guys we had 2 other runs that ran sub 16:10), won the DMR, and HJ 95% of the time. I am guessing we would also have won the shot and the weight but the different instruments doesn't made that a sure thing (what is the equivalent of a 51 ft hs throw?) and been competive (the 1:56 guy was a mid 49 guy in a relay and there was another 2 sprinters who ran sub 51 on relays and were sub 23 outdoors in the 200m. Our 55ms were pretty much all hand timed. I have no clue if a 6.5 is scoring in) in the 200/400. And then we had a bunch of second tier guys that would be fighting for point (2 guys that could high jump 6'1, a couple of 4:38 milers, a couple of 21 ft long jumpers). Yeah that was a good year depth wise

somebody needs to (1) find pacers, (2) block off a weekend, (3) run all of the "races" at the exact same times as they did at NCAAs, "heats" and all requiring appropriate "qualifying times," and (4) film it. i know this will never happen, but it'd be pretty interesting.

They also know that this year's women's Boston, London, Chicago and Berlin marathon winners will be competitive with a large portion of the US Olympics Trials men's field. Everyone gets to crap on someone.
