Lifespan of a computer

I have an IBM Thinkpad that I got in about late-2004 or early-2005 which still works fairly well.

Too bad the Thinkpad brand was sold off to the cheap Chinese and has gone to crap.

I also had a IBM Thinkpad from the same time frame. It suffered a cooling fan failure after three years, I paid to fix that. Less than a year later the hard drive started failing. I replaced the Thinkpad, which also had a shell that was seriously scratched (plastic).

Count yourself lucky to have a laptop computer, built by anyone, last 4-5 years. Maybe my IBM crapped out because I used it 6-8 hours a day, it was my primary work computer.
