Solinksy sub 26:45 this year outdoors and maybe 12:48 if he gets the right races. This man is on a quest and is that good.

His sub 27:00 (first non-african in history) with a final 1:56 in his DEBUT 800 didn't convince you of that for crissakes?? How about his series of 12:55/56 races where battles top africans down the stretch? Not enough? But an OPENING, INDOOR 3:54 not in his event......now THAT just blows ur mind, eh? Weird.
You sir, are an idiot. He just OPENED his season with a mile time near his PR, indoors, in Febuary. You act like everyone does this. Bernard Lagat doesn't open in 3:54, and he's one of the greatest milers in history. I think we all know that he is peaking for August at the World Championships, which means he is doing this off of tempo runs and the such. So what do you think he'll be running when he is in top form, AND race sharp? Exactly, "scary good"
Sorry I'm with T-rex on this one. To put that into perspective I would say German's 3:55.0 solo in his second indoor meet in his life as a College Freshmen in an off event would indicate SCARY good, but a 3:54 for Solinsky is merely a really solid start to another great season, but it by no means comes as a shock.

ya but Russell Brown just did the same thing, why is this such a big deal?
AGAIN - Solinsky is not a miler. it's not that difficult of a concept.

Given that he presently has the fastest time in the world in the mile...
I'm not trying to belittle Brown's performance, cause he's one of my favorite runners, but Solinsky ran 3:37 in college, and for a long time was considered to be a 1500-5k runner. When it was announced that he was running the 10k last year, everyone cried out that his best event would be the 3k. so Yes 3:54 is a great time, and I'm happy for solinsky and excited for this coming year, but to say he is not a miler is silly, ya he doesn't focus on it, and I don't know if he has 3:30 speed but he clearly has enough base speed and strength endurance to pop out a good mile. This is a great time but it is not anything the blows me away.
He ran this off of a steady diet of 120+ miles/week:
Solinsky ran 3:55.76 in this same meet last year so I don't think this is THAT surprising of an effort. More of a validation that he's progressing.
I remember Solinsky running a 4:01 last mile when he won the 5,000 meters at the Outdoor Nat. Championships when he was a junior or a senior (I forget which year).
Running a 4 minute mile after blazing two miles is similar shape to me. I know it's endofseason vs. beginningofseason but it shows the ability is there.
Interesting how close Lagat and Solinsky are in fitness right now. 3:54 = 8:18, but for someone with Cris' strength, 8:10 is not a big stretch. This makes sense, both being low-12:50's outdoors.
...no! It was all made up...he's been sitting on is 'arse' eating bon-bons and just got lucky!
In other words: Hard work equals great results!
Go Chris, go!!!
Dudes 3:54 is smoking fast but the guy runs 12:55 5Ks over in Europe for chrissake. He runs 26:59 for 10K. He's really fast. All this race shows is that he's healthy and training is going well.
Remember the young Webb ran 3:53? Good result but not shocking by any means by solinsky.
Solinsky's time in the indoor mile is almost good enough to make the IAAF all-time list.
Bekele has run 3:32 outdoors. If Chris wants a medal in the 5 or 10 (he does), he needs that kind of speed, and he seems to be on the right path.

What does this have to do with anything? You guys are missing the point. I'm not saying the 3:54 is a world beater. I'm saying that for a 5k-10k guy to open his season with a 3:54 when all he is doing is logging a lot of miles, none of which are of the blazing fast variety, this bodes very well for him. If he ran this same time in July, when he's race sharp and peaking, it doesn't mean much. Do you all understand the difference?
solinsky will get smoked by that new ethiopian kid.
Nice race in melbourne coming up. Sol just opening with 3:54, Lagat running 8:10 with solo 2nd mile 4:02. Will be fun to see them in Melbourne 5000. Am sure Teg wants to be in the mix; what news of Mottram?

Not without EPO is isn't. Look at how his case was handled by the IAAF. He was never found innocent. And don't tell us about the ridiculous "false positive".

Classy gum chewing by the interviewer. Maybe for outdoor he can chew tobacco and spit while the subjects talk.
He is a 26:59 & 12:55 track performer. What did any of you expect he would run? He's just keeping the ball rolling.
it's hard to repeat a season like solinsky just had and he's just started out over a second better at the mile, again off of base training and tempos, so it augurs well for the race in australia and his season.
