Why did you ever compete?

So what's your point? I like playing basketball, but I game up my NBA dreams by the time I was 12 years old. Sometimes you just have to accept reality.

OK, but if an NBA team gave you money to play, you'd say no because you suck?

Get real, she's a pro and EVERY pro can't win every race.

What happened to her in that race? Why was she so far back?

she's continuing to improve and get faster. Why wouldn't she still compete. Why do ppl feel like they or others should hang their spikes up before they reach their potential?

I agree... even though the OP WAS trolling... several on these boards DO feel this way. It is sad. Following that logic ALL races would have 3 - maybe 4 runners. Imagine the NYC marathon with 4 people at the starting line.

For the record, I am not trolling. My questions about Sara Hall began to arise after watching her win Melrose in a relatively slow time, and then go on to get drummed in the New Balance meet. (But not just those two races; I've not had the opportunity to EVER see her run well as a pro.)

I appreciate the few of you who have been mature enough to offer better perspectives on my somewhat flawed opinion. Again, thank you.

I agreed with your previous point, but I'm not sure Jordan Hasay is a good example to support it. Hasay could already beat Sara Hall at any distance.

I ran in high school because I was good enough to win most of the races I entered, excluding the state meet. I continued to run in college because I'd earned a scholarship and wanted to keep it.

That said, I learned throughout my college career that I was destined to become an also-ran (no pun intended). I had a couple opportunities to run with developmental clubs, but the writing was on the wall. Running for fun and enjoyment is one thing, but why continue killing yourself and making sacrifices if you simply don't have the stuff to be the best?

If Sara Hall can get paid to be a career mid-packer who occasionally places in a national race, more power to her. With that in mind, I'm willing to retract my judgment while maintaining my basic question.

If any of u dummies got to watch the 3k this past weekend, she was right there in the race through the mile, then she began puking. she turned her head a few times toward the inside of the track and food/liquid projected out of her mouth.

Looking at it, i for sure thought that she was gonna just drop out (most runners would have) but she stuck in it and finished the race.

In her post-race interview on flotrack she explains this...

And to still run 9:11, how many us women would keep racing if they started vomiting.. not many i can tell you that. i commend her and know she'll do better next time around
