Most romantic movies of all time - past and recent

If you're a romantic, you get it. Well then, how about the Moulin Rouge?

I'm a romantic and I think that film sucks. And I also could not stand Moulin Rouge.

Okay, so let me name a romantic movie. This will generate a lot of flack I'm sure but I like "Against All Odds." I even like the incredibly sappy Phil Collins theme song. There, I said it. And I like "A Room with a View." And I like "An Officer and a Gentleman."

Girl meets boy on train. They talk about relationships while the guy tries to nail the girl. How is that pretentious? Pretentious Moi?!

A lot of Hitchcock films are actually superb romances.

Just thought of another- Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn; Roman holiday. Came on tv by chance 2 nights before my wife and I went on our own Rome Vacation visiting all the locations from the film. You can't beat icecream on the Spanish Steps with the girl you love

Serendipity- yes. Very predictable, but that's fine. I love the movie and the fact that serendipitous events can bring two people together.

There's another one, I can't think of the name, where a mother is teling her daughter the story of how she met the girl's father. They keep just missing each other and finally meet. It revolves around him in charge of tearing down her apartment complext that has a rich history.

Basically, they're stupid movies that, if you watched with a girl, you'd get laid after.

I'm a Before Sunrise / Before Sunset fan. Not for the romance, but for the talking. They talk well.

I also like almost all the John Cusack romances. Say Anything…, The Sure Thing, Serendipity.

The Notebook was painfully bad. I guess 500 Days of Summer was tolerably not-bad

I actually like that Zooey girl a lot and I thought 500 Days of Summer was stunningly intolerable.

Speaking of Cusack . . . Grosse Pointe Blank is a dark comedy with plenty of action yet it ends pretty romantically.

50 First Dates

Wow, yeah, not going to lie, that is pretty bad....never been the strongest with grammar though, I'll be the first to admit that. Surely I'll make another mistake within this post, and surely someone will point it out if I do.

There is one scene in 500 days of summer that is sooooo good, it actually makes the movie alright imo. Take this scene out and the movie is nothing special, once again, only imo of course.

Another movie that your lady would most likely like would be the Holiday. Other that my lady friends have loved would be, Love Actually, Sweet Home Alabama, and you've got mail.

Ameile is another one I would throw on the list as being an excellent romantic comedy, and of course we must add Wall-E and the beauty and the beast.

One of the most romantic (and best in my view) movies is The Big Fish by Tim Burton. Oddly, it is not styled as a romance, and is ostensibly about a sophisticated young man who visits his dying father and who is trying to come to terms with him, his father being a rakish storyteller, and a man the son doesn't really understand. But the back story is a great romance - and depicts a no greater love than that between the mother (Jessica Lange's best role) and the father. The most touching scene doesn't involve either the mother or the father, but the son in a meeting with a spinster like character played by Helena Bonham Carter (arguably one of the best actresses around). That scene and a surreal field of daffodils at Auburn University - well this makes for a movie to think about.

LOVE big fish. One of the few scenarios where I felt the film was better than the novel- or at least close.

I quite liked that, but I can't think of the scene you're speaking of. Hint?
