There are endless opportunities for men as well, just in football. Quit being a pussy and join. Don't blame the women because you allow all your opportunities to be spent on one sport and say nothing about it.

An unusual number of football and basketball players at my ACC school drove new BMWs, Escalades, and even a few Hummers. The rumor was these cars were on lease for a few dollars a month from alumni who owned dealerships. Whatever the actual story was, I can't imagine it was entirely within NCAA guidelines.

I didnt allow the football team to have all those opportunities, in fact I feel they should be limited to 50, at most. Football isn't even an olympic sport and I'd rather participate in a more popular (on the world stage) sport.
I witnessed someone breathe in the wrong direction once. Barely escaped NCAA sanctions.
But seriously the NCAA rules are so asinine, makes me glad I might be leaving college athletics soon.
Wisconsin distance athletes getting away with flagrant underage drinking, bar-crawling, library carousing and other mischief that they themselves extensively documented. The NCAA, the University athletic department and the school administration don't give a hoot. Post - last previous golden era (the circle of influence of the great Chris Solinsky) and Pre - current golden era promise of budding new, spiritually caring youngsters. I.e. most of the troublemakers graduated last year or are graduating this year. Oh well!

I guess the question is: Can a paid or volunteer assistant at a Division 1 school advise (coach, write workouts-however you want to describe it) a high school athlete who subsequently becomes a recruit for that Division 1 school? Are there any exceptions for children of the coach or coaches that have a long-term relationship with an athlete (i.e. been coaching/advising forever....coach went to same high school as athlete/recruit)? Where does the line get crossed?
Anybody have any working knowledge of these rules?
I use a volunteer who is a head coach at a local high school. It's fine because in this instance my volunteer is the head boys coach and my program is women's so my coach is not coaching any recruitable high school athletes at it would pertain to my program.

My school once let a "former" pro athlete on the team as long as he "repaid" his professional earnings. Then they allowed him to keep his professional coach, professional amenities, professional salary, as long as he showed up on race day in the right uniform. Oh, and and top of it, they cut other guys scholarships so that he could have that too.
Coach could still kick most of our a**es today. I always want him next to me if a bar fight breaks out. Somehow, he'll find a way to prevail. Today he spends his mornings putting quarters in expired parking meters when the meter-maids show up. A role model for the masses.
I played soccer my first year before turning to xc/track at a D1 school. A week before final exams, I got a call from the athletic support folks for a "study session" with the professior of this biology class.
I showed up-only football and soccer athletes attended- and the prof handed out this multiple choice "review packet" that we "went over."
Sure enough, one week later, the final exam was the review packet...only the questions were in a different order.
Funny enough, I never got a "review session" call like that as a track/xc guy...
Interesting. I never heard that. Can you prove it?
