There hasn't been much progress at all lately.
The top 14 times ever run in the 1500 were done 14 years ago or longer.
The #5 time was done 30 years ago.
The women have either hit their limit or are ready for a major breakthrough.
4:08 high, and many people don't run the mile as fast as they "should" based off that conversion. And those are some old-timey times. I don't think we are going to see any major breakthroughs; for instance, I'm not guessing we are going to see a woman drop a 47-low quarter this year and knock Marita Koch off the top of the list. Unfortunately, it looks like a lot of the women's world records will be on the books for a looooong time.
