I was thinking the same thing. 50k WR is so effing soft. How hard would 2:10 Marathon be, then 8k in 25min, for those really fast Marathoners?

Actually only have to do last 8k in 33 mins. So like 6:30 miles

50k is not a recognized IAAF world record distance, which affects the motivation of athletes to get the "record" and their opportunities to do so in international competition.

IAAF does recognize a world record at 100k (only recognized distance longer than marathon). Using the WMA calculator, the 6:13 100k WR would equate to a 2:37 50k.

Didn't Bordin run a 50K in training in 2:41 as a progression run? The Gentleman from Verona's last 10K was 31:02. Can we all just tap the breaks on the competitive nature of 50Ks.

I honestly thought Cragg would win this one easily but still a good showing. Does anybody have any info on where his debut marathon will be?

Delusional....Think for a moment, who do u want to win? OR how well do you want your celeb to run or get a WR? That is what I thought. Accept what is given "today" and don't worry what tomorrow will bring. In the mean time, worry about your own PR. Contact me if you disagree.

No dog in this fight and I could care less, but....with your comments I will respond. It was "them" who was doing the talking, not the running public. I have never commented on this thread but I have on the Desi will kick Kara's butt thread. I said Kara will not beat her in Boston, whether Desi wins or not and that Kara will say she came back to soon from having a child. Wait for it.....

p.s. Kara is going to Boston with the goal of winning, her words. My words, it ain't gonna happen. Desi will outrun her and Kara will go back to the drawing board.

Agreed in spades. This was the basis of my thread "How is Kara gonna be ready for Boston?"

Too much too soon. Will not be ready (fitness or fresh) to perform well in Boston. All about the appearance fee pay day. New house, new child, unemployed husband. Funny how motivations can change?

I was quite impressed with Kara's performance considering the week she has had having a sick baby and all. And only for Cox the whole day would have been seriously boring.. There was abslutely no excitement whatsoever. The atmosphere was appaling at it

I have 2 small kids. They get sick. Kara's child is no more important than mine or anyone else's. Kara mentions her kid is sick and suddenly it's a big deal, as if it affects her training during the last week where she will gain absolutely no fitness.
