How can Southerners be so stupid driving in the snow?

In the defense of the South, it doesn't help that 1) the local news goes into a blind panic when it snows and 2) major roads and highways take forever to get cleared. I grew up in Massachusetts, and driving in the snow in DC is much more difficult because the plowing is so poorly done.

Driving in the snow is pretty basic - you can change your speed and you can change your direction, but you can only do one of them at a time!

Also, Hispanic and Black car accidents are the most under reported statistic, being that many Blacks and Hispanics don't have car insurance.

Both black and hispanic males, have a higher rate of auto accidents.

Whats surprising is that blacks and hispanics have a higher rate of auto accidents even though a higher number of blacks and hispanics are unemployed and don't own vehicles and are in jail.

Black males are almost twice as likely adjusting for these facts than whites to be involved in an auto accident.

Liberal bias can not change facts no matter how hard it would like to.

And these are under reported statistics, since many blacks do not have auto insurance and are more likely to leave the scene of an accident.

I'm not Southern, I'm from Ohio. I live in Florida though.

Texas didn't have many accidents last year when they got 12.5 inches of snow because they just shut all the highways down. The first evening it was pretty funny because the roads they shut down were virtually clear of snow from it melting. They were concerned the roads would be icy. I went down from Ohio to watch the NBA all-star game so I certainly didn't want to see a bunch of snow. They had virtually no salt trucks/plows to clear the roads if they wanted to. Most of the snow melted in a couple days though.

White males under the age of 25 are more than twice as likely to be in a fatal car accident than are all other drivers. (census.gov).

And, per a study ln the topic by Satomi Imai, PhD and Christopher J.Mansfield, PhD:

"In younger age groups, fatality rates per licensed drivers are much greater than rates per population: 300%, 200%, 50%, and 25% greater for 16, 17, 18, and 19-year-olds, respectively.

African Americans have the lowest fatality rate per population"

But why rely on stats when you are predisposed toward racist views?

When it snowed recently in NYC, things got so f***ed up that some people had to wait 30 hours for ambulances to respond to calls. It is not just southerners who can't handle snow.

Thats funny the only accident I was ever in was in Massachusetts when some Irish person with a horrible bawstone accent rammed into the back of me at 30 at a stop light.

Luckily no one was coming from the otherway or I would have been in the hospital.
