Because that is the fake New UncleB who uses a capital I in place of the "l".
My God you people are stupid

Is this something you have some knowledge on, or is it the sort of general rah rah statement of how great we are, and no one could possibly do anything better?
I have family living abroad (Austria), and they also have elected representative that they can mail, email, or visit in local forums. Simply amazing. Our neighbors to the north have managed this remarkable feat. While there are many great things about America, let's not pretend that we're among the minority that have discovered a system for citizens to interact with their government.
Do keep writing letters, letter writer. Just try do some research first.

I'm sure the liberals will tear it up.
But, as a Democrat who is a self-described moderate, I find I can not have an intelligent converstion with a liberal. They are not open to other opinions.
It's either their way or "you are wrong" way.
At least conservatives listen.
Nice troll. Why did you bother to preface it with the made up story about the letter? And you sound pretty convinced of your preconception that "liberals" are going to oppose the idea.
You do realize that top republican leadership opposed the most recent expansion of GI Bill benefits in 2008. Good think the "liberals" supported it so it would pass.

True. I think you are right.
As for "can't talk to liberals.." I have had several that resort to screaming and yelling when I don't agree with everything they say. That's my experience. How else would I feel?
As for my original intention,
I believe that some way to make illegal immigrants/aliens legal could be done.
Instead of the petty insults, how about input or ideas.
How about this?
We promise citizenship to the freeloaders. When they arrive to sign in, we load them up, and ship them off.

Its been tried...the Republicans have voted it down over and over again...
Now stop trolling
I agree with the guy who made fun of you because your last idea was just defeated by "those listening conservatives." What you are proposing are social programs- ie things that help people. Psst, liberals do those. Conservatives are those guys on the networks yelling about how they waste money and are a socialist takeover of something or other.
However, one question I have is why we need more people to serve. Personally, I think there are many more useful occupations than warfare, for instance science, which of course is a favorite target for conservatives. Teaching- another one. What, specifically, do we as a nation gain when Bobby and Billy go to Afghanistan to impress their 17 year old girlfriends and come back in caskets? And how much have we lost?

you are missing the original point.
I was looking for a win-win idea for the governemnt and immigrant problem.
The militarys seems like the best way to become an American.
And, the government can gain some more people.
Scientists? engineers? doctors?
How many of the people running across the border in El Paso or New Mexico are qualified for anything like that?
