pablo congrats on a solid run. Nice race report. There are plenty of us here who consider you a 2:19 guy within the next 5 years so keep at it!
marmite: Good to see you back on a schedule. Slowly increase the miles and you will be back for a fall marathon.
Speaking of which, i signed up for Berlin! Anyone who is interested, the price is going to go up soon as they just about reached 25K people.
Last week was solid and i went to sleep last Sunday with no problems at all, planning on taking a down week. I woke up Monday morning, had breakfast, got up from my chair..... couldn't get up from my chair! My lower back was in agony. I have no idea why! Anyways, i took off 3 days. Pain subsided by the second day but was still a bit sore so i took the third day off for good measure. Thurs morning i went to the track to do 4x1mile which was a stupid idea for a first run after a 3 day layoff. It didn't go well so i bailed out in the middle.
Goal: London in 2:56
M-W: OFF - lower back, old age?
R: 6 incl 1M @ 6:35 and 2x800 in 3:31, 3:24. Felt HORRIBLE. Aborted 4x1mile workout.
F: 4 @ 8:27 / 6 @ 8:40
S: 7 @ 8:19
S: 18 = 2 easy + 3 @ 20:27 (6:58,6:50,6:38) + 8 easy + 3 @ 20:26 (6:54, 6:51, 6:40) + 2 easy. Easy pace in 8:20-8:35 range.
Total: 41 in 4 days.
Sunday's run was fabulous. I took this workout from the Daniels book. It was great because i like to break up a long run. I would much rather do this workout than a 20 miler steady. I don't have a nice 20 mile out and back course where i live. I have a 5 mile loop which i use. I think i will do this type of workout once out of 3 or 4 weeks. Felt great! Highly recommended.
