Nobody is claiming a Clif bar is better than eating some amount of the natural foods for the ingredients. But it should be plainly obvious how unrealistic it is to go to a grocery store and buy the million natural ingredients that they're combining for you to get all of that in one convenient package. I might not like some of the ingredients put in there, but overall I'm willing to eat them so I can get all the ones that are helping me.
When you look at a Clif bar label, it includes minerals even. There is plenty in that bar that I have a hard time finding in my fridge on a daily basis. It's nice to know I can grab a Clif bar and have magnesium, too.

Yes it can. Try Wegman's.
I usually get two 12 packs at Wegmans for $12 a box. Currently on a break with the traditional bars. I have been eating their Builders Bars with more protein.
I used to not eat any specific "energy bars" designed with densely packed nutrients for athletes. When I started eating Clif Bars a couple months ago in addition to my usual lunch, I found I was more alert, less tired and more energetic on my runs than before. Just my .02
I actually do get them cheaper at RW. I come close to even with the 15% discount and then I get another 20% discount over that thanks to some gift cards they were selling for 20% off. Hot diggity!

I'm with the real food eaters. Clif Bars are fine as an occasional treat, recovery food, or meal replacement, but they shouldn't be a main staple in a diet. There's probably nothing wrong with eating 2 a day, but why not eat real food? No one is telling you to "carry your kitchen around" all day. You'll get more out of raw unprocessed foods, and you'll save money.

Yes, there probably is. Google [soy estrogen].
I get my energy bars at Gordon Foods for about 50 cents apiece. They come in a box of 36. Chocolate on the outside, nougat and caramel on the inside. I believe the name of them is Milky Way. I think it is some play on the ENERGY the universe provides. Anyway, those things are delicious.
I've always eaten a Cliff bar (Crunchy Peanut Butter) right before a run in the morning and I find it satisfies me until lunch. When I've eaten oatmeal or toast for breakfast, I find I am more hungry during and after a run. I get mine from Amazon, Target or Whole Foods, depending on whose has it on sale.
Lately, I have switched over to the Power Bar Energy Bar (Peanut Butter) and find them just as good or the same effect as the Cliff Bars. It's just easier to grab one in the morning.
