I've seen similar leg shaving treatments that were effective. The only twist, was I belive the injured leg was shaved below calf/above mid-thigh, with the reverse done on the uninjured leg (above calf/below mid-thigh). The very short shorts was a key aspect of the treatment... not to be overlooked.
I think either would be worth a try!
Sometimes you can figure out what is injured by locating the injured muscle or tendon and doing the exercise for it... if there's pain... probably found it. Maybe this will help:

Makes perfect sense.
most likely a medial meniscus problem..................take anti-inflamms for 7-10 days, avoid running on slippery or uneven terrain
