surely you have something better to do with your time than snoop on people's facebook and go to the trouble to copy and paste their status/quote into a feed on letsrun.com! give me a break buddy, mind your own business and realize if this guy isn't trying very hard to get good grades and still is, hes only cheating himself out of a better education but who cares his gpa is great! besides that he's obviously more passionate about running than school which is not your problem, and not his as we can see, he doesn't care much anyways. maybe he's more of an athletic student than a student athlete, the college sports system has a "few" of those, get off facebook and realize it.
What type of dick posts someones facebook status as a thread. Who cares if you "censored" it. Grow some balls pussy.
if you know the school, its obvious why he is there and it is not to get a great education. its for running. don't think anyone chooses that school for a great education, and nothing is wrong with that. it'll be good enough for him to do what he wants.
So much hate! Why are you bashing my school? I'm wondering who has the time to make my facebook status a thread on lets run? I'm almost honored. but seriously though, who doesnt want to go to a school where you put 90% of you effort into running and can still come out with a good GPA ????
so if this isn't a d1 attitude does that mean its ok for d2 d3 athletes?
are you a dad of the recruit he was talking to or just randomly creeping my friends facebook?
whoever made this their facebook status clearly knows how to live life right. He's probably fast, gets good grades, and slays poon everynight!

I wouldn't want to go to a school if this is common knowledge among potential employers in the future. If this is the general attitude and demand of students (athletes...) at this school, then more than likely the academic reputation is ahead of you and when the "real" competition in life begins (getting a job...), you will be competing against the guy/gal who put in their "base miles, intervals, and training" (SCHOOL) while you were getting away with a 1.0 effort. Most employers know this or recognize it, just like most coaches know the athletes they have on their roster that are just skating through.

As I used to say in HS, "What's my GPA? It's 15:07, BICH!"
I bet you're fun at parties

To the OP, sadly I hear this exact same sentiment coming from medical students. Basically, our education system has produced entire generations of people who will do the absolute minimum to reach a goal they are happy with.
Minimum input for maximum output? Isn't that like the definition of efficiency?

Yup, I'm 100% sure that unless you study 10 hours a day from 1st grade on, you'll never be gainfully employed. If you have any fun whatsoever, all prospective employers catch wind of it and bar the person from working. In fact, I've been through several interviews that go like this:
Boss- "Well, guy, you have the requisite degree, a good GPA, excellent references, a little summer experience, and a record of being a competitive D1 athlete while going to school and working part time. We'd love to have you, but I have one last question: how hard did you work for that 3.7 GPA? Because I swear to God if ANYTHING was EVER put before that number, you will never work a second in your life again, you lazy commie piece of crap."
ok im real sure bro wrote:

As an employer, I might be "tricked" by a kid who put in a 1.0 effort, but I can guarantee I would NOT want them working for me, nor ANYONE with this kind of attitude.
I will point out that I DO look at the school they came from and if the reputation is not good, they may not even get to the point of being able to answer the questions you put forth. ESPECIALLY if I have someone else from a school that I respect with a similar or even lower GPA because I know that it took more than a 1.0 effort to get it.

This is the correct approach for employers and the most common one especially among elite employers like corpo headquarters and firms, banks, consulting groups. Look to an institution like Ivy/Stanford/MIT/UChicago where GPAs are lower on average (I believe it's even as low as 3.3 at UChicago) and you will find that employers seek out those students more than Joe Schmo 3.7 at State U. Not that there is anything to belittle about a 3.7 at State U but there are kids who try a helluva lot harder at other elite academic insitutions that are going to get the nod ahead of your 1.0 effort.

Although being an athlete helps out a lot! Btw, I got a 4.0 this semester with a 2.0 effort, what will employers think about me?
Letsrun>Facebook. All you guys that are coming from facebook to tell the OP that he's a dick,..well you're the d*ck. Go back to facebook.
