Do both. Indoor meets are fun, just dont peak for them.
If you're a miler or below, you should be racing indoors. By December it will have already been 5-6 months since your last race at your primary distance. If you intend to skip indoor races, you're really only racing "your distance" for 3-4 months per year. Not enough.
If you're in high school, indoor is great fun and you can learn a lot about the sport by doing it. As for peaking, I have no problem with hs athletes peaking for indoor. Some of them don't do outdoor. Even those who also do outdoor can peak two (or three) times in a year.
