Why do non-runners hate on short singlets?

What is a short singlet? Is this like a midriff? If so, I would certainly expect to be taunted for running in a "short singlet."

I used to wear tights. Sporthills and the makers of similar winter running pants are better.

I agree with one of the posters. It sometimes depends where you are in the world.

I used to get razzed alot when I lived in Louisiana. Then, I moved to a civilized society, where there are less people named Bubba and can name the times I have been razzed in the last 10 years on one hand. That's one week for back in Lousyana.

This annoys me too. Almost every other type of article of clothing is determined as masculine or feminine by arbitrary cultural standards. However, in matters of fashion versus funcionality, running tights, half tights, short shorts, and even the highly made fun of 3/4 tights offer some unique function.

A man could just as easily wear a dress as a woman. However, missing out on running tights or impeding your range of motion by putting on shorts over them is just getting in the way of funcionality.

I would question 3/4 tights. If It was cold enough to want tights covering 3/4 of your legs, why wouldn't you want the rest covered too?

Is it cold enough to want tights over your knees, but warm enough that you would overheat if your calves were in tights?

I've pondered the function of 3/4 tights as well. Still when some of the guys on my team were getting called out for wearing them on my D1 team in college (they did look girly) I realized that if there is even the chance that they offer some unique function (like you said maybe keeping the tendons and muscles around your knees/ calves warm while allowing more heat to vent from your ankles/ slighlty less constricting.) then i say it makes sense to try them out rather than being scared off from them because arbitrary fashion standards say you look like a girl. Makes more sense than wearing a v-neck t-shirt just because it is in. In short, if it has some sort of function or the possibility of function, I say don't let fashion get in the way. That's my argument, but I've never worn the 3/4s

You kidding??? I love distance boys in running tights! I've been dating my boy for over a year, I could recognize his legs in running tights from the other side of the track they looked so fine.

People who think men shouldn't show their legs just say that because they wish they had distance runner legs. Lean and cut.
