ps...I also remember thinking the Nike Elite shoes had a very nerrow heal but super lite....does anyone remember the weight?
maybe I was wrong there to, those are Addisas shoes in that pic, I think I remember those shoes also, they were light weight but this strange lip on the back of the heal.

I used to sell them - $39 in east coast running stores. My all-time favorite flat. Narrow heel, wide forefoot.
I paid $40.

I think he was in the adidas marathon racers (blue with yellow stripes).
My teammate had a pair of Tiger Jayhawks. I wish I would have gotten a couple pair of those. I still have a pair of Tiger Obhoris.

I think that adidas would have had a problem with that.
Perhaps your thinking of the Brooks Vantage. They were always ranked very high in the annual shoe survey.I really liked the original Nike Equator with a nice curved last (ugly beige color though). Later on I ran in the Tiger Epirus (~$49).On another note, wasn't there something fishy going on with the surveys in the late 70s and 80s? that RW put together? Maybe favoring the Brooks over Nike and then Nike withdrawing advertising from the mag?

I did love the Elite and put a ton of miles on them in middle school. Just as groundbreaking in my opinion was the Terra TC for $39 or so?
