I've heard Stanford and Colorado are the front runners. Portland and Illinois would seem like possible options also.

Hopefully the indoor season goes well for him.

I have no idea whether Texas is in the mix, but how cool would it be for a triathlete to train under their cross country squad, but for swimming u have Eddie Reese (Texas & US Olympic Coach)and Lance Armstrong for biking

Not a chance in the world that LV will be given a scholarship and allowed to continue his triathlon activities especially in the summer build-up. Where in the world did you get that idea? You must be visiting from another planet. If he will be running CC in the fall, you better know he will be on a summer training program that gets him ready for CC and not jaunting worldwide for triathlon competitions. Biking and swimming are not likely part of that preparation program. What he did in HS will not fly in college. The schools call the shots and not Lukas in college. You bet you have the wrong idea.

He said in his latest flotrack interview he will not be doing both in college. If the indoor season goes well, he's a runner. If it doesn't he's a triathlete. Hopefully he breaks Lindgrens record and goes sub 4 indoors.

as fragile as he appears to be, the high mileage programs seem like poor fits, portland, colorado...

Any 5 schools (and there aren't that many, maybe not even 5) that will go easy on him for walking across a finish line. What an idiot.

*in order of most likely to least likely.

Yup these are most likely the schools, knowing Lukas he will drag the decision out though, because he loves the talk

I think he will go to Ok. State. He said on flo track he will pick one. IMO, I think if he does not have a great indoor season and decides to go pro in the triathlon is would be the biggest mistake he'd ever make.

1) Is this kid a U.S citizen?

2) I think people on here who talk about him being the next great thing in terms of the tri is making that assumption based on his running. Yes Lukas is a good runner. But that's 1/3 of the equation for the triathlon. I've swam in the ncaa for 4 years and competed in tri's. I think people underestimate how much harder it is swimming a 500 than swimming a 1500m. This is like running a 3000m race and running a 10k. Anyone with talent can swim a good 500 but when you get to about 1000 then to the 1500 your body is begging for you to stop.

3) Javier Gomez after swimming and biking runs his 10k in 31:36. Then bikes a whopping 25 mph over 40km. I don't think Lukas can bike that fast over a long period of time. I think he bikes around 24 mph and even then you have to think because the race is doubled he would have to slow down or feel even more fatigued during the run.

I'm not putting the kid down but sometimes I feel Lukas is saying what his mom and coach is telling him. Your great and your going to be great if your a triathlete.

U Florida is better academically than Oregon, OK St, Portland, etc.

Running is more than 1/3 of the equation in olympic distane due to the biking being draft legal. If Lucas wants to win the olympics triathlon is the way to go.

So your saying because you can draft on the bike he will be as good as some of the elites like gomez and brownlee?

It seems to me that the biking being draft legal would make the swim more important and not the run. If you come out of the water more than a few seconds behind, you're screwed, and could lose more time on the bike than even someone like Lukas could make up on the run.

But, even without knowing much about competitive triathlon, I'll agree that he probably has more of a chance of winning the Olympics in that than he does in running.

I personally interviewed Verzbicas at NCAAs in Terre Haute. He said that he is far from making his decision, but he predicted OK State for the win and hinted that that was his top choice. Actually, it was the only one he mentioned to us
