800m Junior 1.48.73 - academic interest

The 5 year clock starts running as soon as you enroll in ANY University, regardless of what country it is in. He has not lost any seasons of eligibility unless he represented his school, but he has only the 5 years from the date he first attended university to complete those 4 years of eligiblity.

Ummm, are you sure about that? Morten Bostrom (NAU) attended University of Helsinki in 2002 & 2003, but was still competing for NAU in cross country 2008.

what is your current coaching set up..?dont you think you can develop under the current setup and think about the states next year ?Clyde

Stuart, you might want to talk with Fayyaz Ahmed. If you don't know him, he works with CvC. Former CG HJ competitor and US collegiate athlete.

Fuzz spent the late 80s at IA State. He'll give you the longer-term perspective from both the US college system and maybe importantly in your case, long-term development and mentoring aspects for a UK athlete who takes that path.

This the 2nd time you've been on maybe you will have the courtesy of a thank you for those who try to help you this time?

As it was the guy who coached European 800m medalist and former US college athlete Becky Lyn + Steve Vernon who also went over there I'm sure he gave you good advice

I came across this thread looking for something else. As a follow up, it looks like he kept on for five more years without any improvements, and was really underperforming in the mile/1500. I'm guessing this is typical for about 50% of young phenoms.
