Anyone can "make do" with anything. But sometimes, people would like to actually train on a proper track. Is it that hard to understand?

Yes it is hard to understand. You know what I'd like? A heated indoor 50m pool, an altitude house, daily massage, a nutritionist, one of those machines that aids in blood flow out of the legs, cryotherapy units, a fully stocked weight room with both free weights and hammer strength equipment, new shoes every 200 miles, etc etc etc. You don't have those you make do. The problem is you don't really need any of those things to be successful. Low on the list would be an indoor track.
As I've said, many successful runners don't believe running indoors is necessary and may contribute to a succession of injuries. Indoor track is a part of the problem with American Distance running why exacerbate it?
Cross this thread with the problems in american distance running thread and you can easily see why we don't have anywhere near the depth we had in the 70's and 80's.
