I never left the Webb bandwagon. I've been a fan of his since high school and I'll continue to be a fan if this is his last race ever.
But, I can't help but start to get excited after seeing this result.
Webb will run WR/AR 3:42 for 1 mile.
Webb will collect silver at the 2012 Olympics.

Great for Webb..3:41 is a great comeback race. Hopefully this will shut the rest of his doubters up..18 months away from the sport does ALOT to a runner. Good for him.

Awesome news. I hope it's really true, the results pages look official, but a I guess a designer could slap that together fairly easily.

Saw the race: pacemaker went through 1k in 2.26 with Alan in 3rd position, afterwards (3rd lap) pace slowed down a little bit until last 100 when Alan kicked. Was impressive to see how he ran away from Ndiwa.
Fortunately I was standing next to Alberto Salazar right after the race when he was discussing it with Alan. His comment: you're back with a big smile! And by the looks on Alan's face, he was really happy as well. Especially with the kick.
15 minutes later he ran a 5k. Original plan was 4.40/mile (said Salazar). First mile was a bit faster (4.35) and with a fast last lap, 14.15. Not bad!

He just needed a 1:49 split on a 4x800 and this would have been a reprise of the Alan Webb legendary HS triple "pro-style".
This is good stuff, though. Certainly, his fitness is picking up if he's winning by almost a second against a guy with an SB of 3:36. Also, he did that without the peace of mind of being done and probably had that 5,000 in the back of his head.
